2010-2011 NBA Season 2.0

The dumbest fans on Earth? This coming from a Toronto Raptors fan? Mmmkay.

A word of advice, therajraj, don’t dish it out if you can’t take it.

lol - What’s so bad about being a Raptors fan? I know they suck. They’ve only been in the league 15 years man.

Red Sox fans blaming a trade that happened in 1918 for why they took so long to win a championship is why they’re the dumbest fans on earth.

Bit of an edit Leaf fans are the dumbest. Red Sox a close second

At least attendance drops at Fenway a little when the Red Sox sucks. Toronto Maple Leaf games have been sold out the last 10 + years and they’re always terrible!

Now you really are making yourself look uninformed again. Die hard Red Sox fans NEVER blamed The Curse as the reason for playoff drought.

That was coined by a local media guy, Dan Shaughnessy, that wrote a book called “The Curse of the Bambino” and then the media ran with it.

Now we have uninformed baseball fans, like you, who think Red Sox fans created, believed, and supported this myth.

Really Raj. You keep trying to diss me and you keep exposing your lack of sports knowledge. It’s freaking embarrasing.

It’s called being diehard, dedicated sports fans. WTF?!? That you are equating that to the IQ of a fan is baffling.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

If your team has been mismanaged for decades, you should vote with your money and not go to games. It’s really the only way to let management know you won’t stand for this bullshit.

Harold Ballard goal for years was to make the most money and cared little how the Leafs did because fans would never stop going to the games.

But what about the average Red Sox fan? I sat beside Red Sox fans for two games in 2005 and 2 in 2006 and it came up in conversation multiple times with strangers I sat beside

I guess Yankee fans are stupid then as well. Other than the late 90s when they won 4 championships (and 2 years ago) they went through almost a 20 year drought in the 70s and 80s. They still filled their stadiums. How about Knicks fans while we’re at it? Are they all stupid too? Talk about mismanagement. They fill their arena every night. All Cleveland fans for all of their sports teams are stupid too I suppose. The list goes on and on.

This is an extremely weak position and disses most fans in all sports because many of them have high attendance and go through their lifetimes without their team winning championships. WTF?!? Do you really want to continue this position? It’s indefensible.

Why the fuck would I defend the average fan in ANYTHING?!? Are you serious??? We already established earlier in this thread that the average fan is not very knowledgeable and not very smart. Most of them are fly by night fans. They get their news from the popular media and don’t really know their teams. This is why their stupid. The ones that continue to go day after day, year after year, however, are NOT stupid because they love and support their teams.

And the Red Sox and the Knicks and even those Damned Yankees have tons of die hard fans that keep those stadiums full no matter how bad management can get through the years.

Once the Red Sox started winning you had the casual fan coming out and wearing pink red sox caps. A die hard would never wear something like this. So again, you know NOT what you speak of.

Your argument is weak once again.

Seeing how the Yankees won several division titles and pennants during the 70’s and 80’s - NO. It’s not just about winning a championship but also putting a winning product on the field.

The Red Sox history is pathetic for a team that has been in the league since 1908

Anyways probably a good idea to curb the MLB talk since we’re in the NBA thread. If you want to continue to argue this, can always post in the MLB thread.

Look therajraj, I’ll extend a fig leaf. I should have left the earlier “little man” comment out when I was first responding to your Lakers crying post (LOL). scj119 was right. I didn’t need to include a personal insult. I actually appreciate your support for the Raptors and the Blue Jays for goodness sakes. That’s to me a die hard fan right there.

Sometimes you get intense on these threads and type something you shouldn’t have. I do like that you seem to be willing to ask questions and “learn more” so there.

Any fanbase where a substantial % believe in a curse is still pretty bad.

Seriously. There’s a difference in being passionate about something and being a dick. You can try and make a point with being an asshole or derailing a thread.

Red Sox have had many moments themselves but they happen to be in the same conference as the Yankees for goodness sakes! So take the Yankees out of it (I agree about keeping the MLB talk off this thread), the Knicks fans are perfect example. I’ll leave it at that.

[quote]therajraj wrote:

Grrrrr…Define substantial %? Do you have this “analysis” handy? No, I didn’t think so. The fact of the matter is that there are thousands of LOCAL fans (like me) that have supported the Red Sox since they were born (before they were winning) that didn’t buy into, start, or perpetuate that curse crap. That you happened to have spoken to a couple of casual fans at a Red Sox game doesn’t give you any credibility to try and sell me on a “substantial %” of Red Sox fans believe this or that.

This is going to be my last response since this is an NBA thread.

Yes - I stand by my position. If your team is not the least bit competitive for DECADES, you should not buy a ticket as protest. I would not put the Knicks in that category since they still were making the playoffs.

Red Sox on the other hand are still pathetic. Blaming the fact they’re in the same division as the Yanks is ridiculous. Their teams payroll isn’t exactly small either.

Edit: The Jays have only been around for 30 odd years and have won 2 World Series, 2 pennants and 5 east division titles.

Your facts, er, are off quite a bit. Ever since they expanded a wild card for each division the Red Sox have won 2 championships now. Trying to make the playoffs when you have the Yankees in your division for decades with no wild card, the most successful team in all sports ever that also happened to spend the most money year after year because they could, is difficult to say the least. Chalking that number 2 team as pathetic is really really stretching it.

As for the Knicks, how long have you been watching basketball??? Just take the last decade alone. They haven’t been to the playoffs since 2001. That arena still sells out night after night.

Raj, if you’re going to debate with me. For God sakes, gets your facts right. This is getting ridiculous.

I’m talking about the Knicks history as a whole not just recently. They made the playoffs plenty of times in the 50’s 60’s 70’s 80’s and 90’s

The Red Sox history is pathetic on the WHOLE, not recently. The lack of a wildcard in previous years is just another BS copout by Red Sox Fans. Fact is they couldn’t win in the conditions of the league.
