NBA 2013/14 Off Season

We had some interesting trades so far. A controversial draft choice go number 1. Huge change in the coaching landscape. Some big name free agents. And a dynasty in the making. Who will bring down the Heat next year? Will they repeat. Does Kobe have anything left in the tank? How many more coaches with Dwight get fired? Will the Brooklyn Celtics make it past the first round? Will D Rose ever come back? Are the Spurs finally done? So many topics.

Talk amongst yourself.

The Neltics…

Fuck KG I hate him even more now

I lol’ed at Neltics.

As an LAL fan, I’m perfectly fine with D12 signing elsewhere.

But a sign-and-trade for B Griff does sound kinda fun.

Very interested to see what GM-Riles does this offseason.

Cause CHI and IND (and BKN?) all figure to be tough and hungry.

The East is going to be pretty interesting. Heat are still the team to beat, but Chi/Indy are good teams that can hold their own AND provide bad matchups for MIA. Both NY teams still need to show me something. The rest is just the field to me, those are the only 5 teams that are now relevant.

The west on the otherhand, is a complete and utter wildcard across the board.

I like the #1 pick. The league is going small, and the Cavs have some depth in the front court now.

Never seen the kid play, but this might be the weakest draft of all time and he was projected to go TENTH. Doesn’t really make sense, but note they have a 2/3rd Canadian front court.

Also, I think Howard’s talk of not re-signing with LA 'cause of D’antoni is just posturing, just as LA saying they’re interested in re-signing him is. Howard is a cancer, is damaged goods and doesn’t fit that system. He’s saying this shit to protect his public image 'cause he can’t be the one who got dumped. LA is a classy organization, and may try to get something in a sign-and-trade, so they’ve gotta pretend they want him. Anybody that signs this dude to a max deal is a fucking retard and will almost immediately regret it.

There was no consensus #1 pick this year, so the mock drafts and projections are all bullshit. Nobody is going to know anything until the season starts, unless you picked Noel who is going to miss half the season.

No, you are going to love him! He’s been my favorite player forever!

Thought Mclemore was the closest thing to a lock. Noel SUCKS. He’s a homeless man’s Marcus Camby. Nothing against Bennet, but a Canadian kid who was projected around the 10th spot, played in a weak conference and doesn’t have a defined position probably wasn’t the smartest choice at #1. If they were so intent on taking him, why not trade down? He’d still be there and you’d get something in return.

Need somebody to trade with. I dint like mclemore with the cavs, I think Waiters will be a solid 2 and has already proven he can play in the league. Bennet has the potential to be a david west type player, and already has an NBA body. Noel would have been the worst case scenario pick #1.

Honestly thought the Waiters pick was a bad choice. A chubby, short 2 who can’t shoot and spent his entire college career coming off the bench is supposed to be your starting 2? Now, they’ve drafted a chubby tweener who couldn’t even workout for teams due to a torn rotator as the #1? I will say that I checked highlights of Bennett and the kid’s a player. Hes WAY more athletic than West, and can create his shot from 20’ and in. He has potential to be a good player, I just don’t think you waste the top pick on him.

The whole draft was a waste and probably the worst year in history to win the lottery. I think Bennet will do well for the Cavs, he’ll have access to the best nutritionist and training facilities money can buy (yes, in Cleveland) and will be playing with a coach who specializes in Bennet’s weakest area. No matter who they picked in this years draft, the #1 was going to be waste.

Whiteflash - Since you’re a Houston native, I wanted to ask you: Are you a fan of Riff Raff?

MattyXL - enjoy Bargnani and his inflated contract. I like Novak’

Same here. One of the only other players that I hate more is Paul Pierce. That started when the Nets and Celtics used to bump heads in the Jason Kidd/Kenyon Martin era when Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker were the cockiest duo in the league.

It’s a shame. I actually liked the Nets the way they were. If they got more consistent production from Joe Johnson they would be a solid team. I know they needed to make some changes but I enjoyed watching them. It sucks they’re broadcasted on my local cable station with those 2 dickheads on the team now.

I liked Novak too. I haven’t seen Bargnani play much so I can’t really comment if I think it’s a good trade or not. I’ll miss Novak though.

All NBA ‘tough guys’ crack me up. You got a dude who is 6’5"-7’ 250-280 lbs acting all hard, then they take a charge from a PG and get made if they dont get the call. YOU DO NOT GET TO BE A TOUGH GUY AND LET A PG KNOCK YOU OVER!
