Didn’t know dennis james was a linguist hah

Dennis grew up in Germany.

ok thanks.

Sorry G87 for not being able to recognize every foreign language I happen to hear, shame on me.

I was just surprised. You’re from Europe, and Germanic languages (inc Dutch, Afrikaans) are very distinctive.

As PX said, Dennis James was born (I think) and grew up in Germany.

Um I’m not from Europe?

Unless you mean my ancestors?[/quote]

Weird; somehow, I was always sure you were from Britain!

If you’re American, your comment is less surprising.

Anyway, wasn’t trying to be a dick. Let’s keep it moving.

Damn the NY Pro is an awesome bodybuilding card lot of big names and alot of young guns. Everyone around the way should check that out

Anybody know the reasoning they switched it’s name from The Night of Champions to the NY pro?

Wayne Demilia owned the name ‘Night of Champions’, so when he left to start PDI a couple of years ago, he took the name with him.

that’s a shame, Night of Champions is much more catchy. Too bad they couldn’t come up with something better than NY pro to succeed that epic name.

I am routing for Centopani all the way! I met the man 4 weeks before he won his pro card when he guest posed at my NPC competition. You see these guys in magazines, but you have no idea HOW BIG they are until you see them up close in person. Unfortunately to win his debute, especially being the NY Pro is a stretch, but you never know.

I’m hoping Ruhl can bust out a final win, but if not, Centopani all the way.

I predict a lot of people are going to be pissed off after this show.

The lineup’s fairly deep and VERY diverse; everything from aesthetes to mass monsters, X frames and “New Wave” physiques. Guys who’ve been around since the early 90s onstage with new pros.

I think it’ll be exciting, you’re going to have some people show up in FANTASTIC condition (Charles, Silvio in particular) some people have made significant improvements (Hide, English, Haley) some have the benefit of that new pro potential (Centopani, White) and Ruhl’s just gonna get up on stage and blow all those fuckers away lol.

It’s either going to be Centopani or a complete dark horse, imo. Centopani is that rarest of birds: hyped to death by the magazines, big AND in shape. Unless he comes in flat or the competition makes some massive improvements I think we’re going to see a pro win, he’ll most likely take some time off and then make some REAL noise at the 2010 Olympia.

That being said, this doesn’t preclude;

*Darrem Charles. Wiliest of the “old men” (nearly had as long a career as Vince Taylor, for god’s sake), King of the $10,000 Show and a lean, aesthetic physique that’s finally come back into vogue. If he shows up slightly bigger than normal or more sliced than normal expect a top 3 finish, minimum and a win is possible.

*Silvio Samuel. Haven’t really heard too much about his condition but he’s done an insane amount of shows and always comes in fantastic shape. Needs to bring up a few lagging key points but if he can make the improvements, bring the conditioning he’ll do very well. Top 3, win if everyone else is off.

*Hidetada Yamagishi. Had a good off-season, despite legal troubles and back is looking much improved. Proving that Asian bodybuilders can bring it onstage. Not quite time for his physique yet but he could hold his head high with a top 4 finish against a lineup this deep.

*Ruhl. What true fan of bodybuilding doesn’t like Ruhl? He got a bad rap as Mass Monster Offender #1 but the truth is he’s always kept his waist under control, despite some blockiness in the midsection (and weird ab genetics) and has the best shoulders in bodybuilding since Levrone left. He’s been looking great since he pared down a bit, and if he could for chrissake PLEASE (a) get his back to stop holding so much water and (b) do something about his triceps he will still be a major threat. As well as damn fun to watch.

*Kevin English. While people are busy creaming their jeans over the likes of Liberatore, Nunn, Curry and others, I say keep an eye on THIS guy. Great physique, no real weak points and if he brings just a tiny bit more mass or conditioning he’s a force to be reckoned with. Top 5 finish or a come from behind surprise.

Way.

Zero chance of Ruhl winning.

If he wins, I will re-enact his posing routine on youtube, shot for shot.

I like the guy, its just not in the cards.

When I say “major threat” I mean for a top 5 finish. Which is possible, considering he’s big as a house, a veteran competitor, it’s his last show and he’s a crowd favorite.

Lueshi, i agree there, esp since this was one of his big career wins I believe back when it was the still the NOC.

We’re all holding you to this. Break out the protan and trunks. hahahah.

Do I think Ruhl will win? No, probably not. But then again, this is bodybuilding and anything can happen. Well, sort of

Centopani has a lot of hype going into the show, which certainly will help (think Kai before the Arnold).

I think Silvio is someone who has a shot. We know he’ll come in shredded, and if some of the big guys are off conditioning-wise he’s a potential winner.

I still don’t know if Kevin English is competing at 202, but I’ve heard he’s looking huuuuge, so it may be a stretch. I do think he has the type of physique where he could place top 5 in the open.

Darrem looked kind of off at the Europa, which is not like him. He’s been in the game for a long time, and either he’s on his way out, or he’ll show up in ridiculous shape for this show.

Hide will place well, I don’t think he’s got a shot to win though. If they go small and conditioned Silvio has it, otherwise one of the bigger guys will take it.

Then there’s a bunch of guys who’ll round out this show and make it very interesting. Eugene Mishin, Ben White, Tarek, and the like who depending on how things develop may have a shot to place well.

Ruhl’s best day are behind him. I was at the original N.O.C. when he should have won, but they gave to a then, pretty unknown guy name Jay Cutler (who didn’t deserve to win, but had just been signed with Weider,… who knew? -lol). Still, everyone loves Markus, it’ll be cool to see him up there mixing it up one more time.

Actually I completely agree with you 100%. The dude is larger than life I’d love to see him pull one through.

Oh and I didnt realize Silvio was in the game… I’d say its him. ONLY because Centopani is brand new to the game, and as stated above me, Ruhl (as sad as it is) has seen his best days. BUT who knows we’ll have to wait and see.

Ruhl is looking pretttttty good…
