So last year me and a couple friends biked from Chicago to Sauk City, WI this was a hell of a ride. 200 miles may not sound too bad but the hills in WI can be brutal and tiresome. Question is: What stimulants (legal or not) could I take in times of despair when I really need a boost? Would some type of amphetamine be ok? if yes, what… if not whats a better alternative? cheers!
Spike Shooters are the shit.
You’d probably benefit greatly from Surge Workout Fuel, as well.
PS, I rode a century about 4 years ago when I was fairly into cycling. 200 miles sounds awful lol.
another vote for Spike Shooters, they are the real deal.
I’d go with Spike Shotgun over Spike Shooter since Shotgun has Beta alanine.
There’s also no way I’d ever do something like this without Surge Workout Fuel.
Throw some Finibars in your pack, too.
I do a double century a couple times over the summer and I can say that BCAA’s before and during helped me out a lot. The Surge Workout Fuel sounds like a winner too. Just as a training tip: take all of these supplements while you are training now and know how you body feels when you take them. I get jitters from energy drinks when I go for long rides so I don’t take them during.
Thanks for the advice looks like Spike Shooters may be the answer… ill start experimenting now ;]
I’ve done a couple of 45-60 mile backpacking trips through the coast mountains and I drank loads of super strong sugary tang and lots of black tea. There were some tough climbing days that were straight up and scrambling the whole day and solid food wasn’t the best idea but the tang and tea was great.
Im thinking about loading up my camelback with something like Surge, tang, etc… I know youre not supposed to put sugary liquids in the bladders but they are cheap enough to replace. Besides that I packed lots of jerky and trail mix. It kept me going but this year I want to plan even wiser… thanks for the suggestions keep em comming!
