Yeah I’m going to order some adidas lifting shoes after trying a mates pair, I’ll be doing some olympic lifting shortly so they will get plenty od use.

Good luck with the recovery mate! Back injuries are the worst! :\

Well my back injury is solved and I’m finally back under the iron!

I have only done 20 reppers once as I’ve been focusing on 1rm. I hit 205kg (451lbs) last week.

My 20 rep effort was at the end of a squat session and went like this

60kg x 10
100kg x 10
120kg x 5
150kg x 3
160kg x 3
170kg x 3
180kg x 2
140kg x 20 (308 lbs)

Nice to back squatting again.

Alright Stallion, I’m in. I’ll take a video next Friday of hopefully 210lbsx 20 (I know I know, I suck at squats)

Sounds great. I’ve put this challenge on hold. I work on 1RM strength now.

i hit 50 straight with 135 @ 161 lb… half squat though… after 2 x 30 with 135.

i want to hit 100 with 135 at < 160, half squat… then im going to go for 155 x 100 (will probably be my BW at the time).

Well, this challenge is about deep 20-rep squats. So when the day comes that you do that, and have a video to show it, you are welcome to chime in.

My best so far is 100kg x 20 @ 60kg bw

Last night I trained at a mates place and knocked out 2 plates(100kg) for 25 reps. I was like this can’t be right, I know I had a Vitamin this morning but they aren’t THAT good, so told him to get the scale…his China 20kg olympic bar only weighed 16.5kg HAHAHA

I hit 150kg x 21 last saturday (breathing squats)

I’ll video when I have crack at 160kg

Great motivator!

I just did a squat workout last night of 501x12, 429x20. I have video, but I’m not going to post it because I’m attempting a better 20 rep set next week. Probably 451x20. I might attempt 462 the week after that. I’ll post whichever video is the best.

That is very good. Maybe a great goal would be to beat Platz? 227kg x 23…

Got your message on youtube. No, I never got to 190x20, I stalled at 16 reps, and as a side note my plates are too light, so the actual weight is something like 183-184kg… Still not too bad. I however became more interested in 1RM strength, and 20 reps does not help much with that.

Platz did that with knee wraps, a belt, and what looks like a squat suit on. I think my 20 rep strength is already pretty close or maybe on a par with what he did. Of course, it’s very difficult to make that comparison accurately. He also goes though his reps a lot faster than I do. One could argue that my squats aren’t as good because I take more time to breathe.

You may be interested to know that I find my high rep squatting has a big carryover to my 1RM if I alternate periods of high rep work with periods of more intense work.

That totally sucks that you found out that your plates were too light. This is something I’ve always worried about with cheap plates, too. Unless it’s calibrated and IWF or IPF certified to be within a certain tolerance, it’s anybody’s guess how accurate the number on the side of a plate is.

Here is my video of me squatting 315 and change ( the bar is a bit thicker then a standard 45 pounder) for 20 reps. This is my first time attempting this feat and it was pretty terrible although it felt awesome when I was finished. I think I probably had a couple of more reps in the tank… I’ll try again in a couple of weeks. My body weight is around 165 give or take a few pounds. Enjoy.

Dr. Ken is legendary for stuff like this. I’ve met him and he’s even smaller in person. I mean that in the best possible way. He’s a real-life hero in his neighborhood, allowing kids to train with him, feeding kids, taking people in. The videos aren’t fake, they just make you realize how normal you are.

Holy shit man. Inspiring video.
