20-Rep Breathing Squats

Haven’t you guys heard that the 30rep squat program is waaayy better than the 20rep program…fukcing beginners.

I don’t want to muddy things up.

I haven’t done the R. Strossen, Super Squats routine.

I just used to have the Cyberpump, HIT, Sean Tooney, Dr. Ken, A. Jones, Dinosaur Training high rep squat “Death March” mentality. It wasn’t a specific “program,” you just squatted for high reps whenever you squatted. If you worked hard, you didn’t worry about counting breaths. You were gonna be “puffing and panting” or “seeing the white buffalo” by the time you finished. More of a general approach, than a set routine.

Ah yeah, those are always fun. I like throwing them in at the end of my deadlift days.

Dan John introduces people to high rep squatting by letting them do 120x30 first, then 135x30 the next session and then 185 for 3x5 before geting into the serious bit. I think your bodyweight on the bar for 30-40 reps is also a good starting point.

So I’ve done three workouts since starting 20 rep breathing squats, and after I am done the set, it feels like the muscles in the middle of my back are being mehcanically tightened by some outside force. It lasts for a couple of minutes right after I rack the bar, and is actually painful. It’s all muscular though, not spinal, but it is a weird feeling.

I know you’re just trolling, but in my case, the 30-reppers did the hypertrophy trick for me the best of anything I’ve ever done. My quads ballooned on it, unlike with 20 reppers.

welcome to the back pump. Enjoy it. It’s not going anywhere.

Once, after a set, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and my vision went blurry, but that was on account of the fact that I collapsed backwards and hit the base of my skull on a pec dec.
