2:1 Carb:Protein Recovery Drink

So, I have been reading Scrawny to Brawny and it’s recommended to have a ‘recovery drink’ containing hydrolysed whey protein and a quickly-absorbed carb (like maltodextrin), and I’m having trouble finding a product that fits this description.

Has anyone made their own mix similar to this? I read that the hydrolysed stuff can taste bitter, does it taste okay when you add maltodextrin?

Any advice is appreciated.

Surge Recovery, great product.

Yep.

Plus the fact the Dr. Berardi, who wrote Scrawny to Brawny, helped design the Surge Recovery formula.

Surge Recovery is one of the best products that Biotest makes in my opinion. You can take it as a post-workout supp, or you can use it during long workouts for extra energy. Highly recommended!

Of course, you could always take 2 scoops of Metabolic Drive and 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream and blend them together with milk. Mmmmm. Not the perfect formula, but fucking delicious.

Money permitting you could go one better and opt for hydrolysed casein. Personally I use both. Finances mean I have to purchase these ingredients separately, including maltodextrin. Easy to measure out, easy to mix, easy to consume.

They used to say 4:1 ratio was best. Have times changed, or is it all hype?

It’s all a matter of what you’re trying to recover from.

A 4:1 ratio is most commonly used by endurance athletes due to their higher carb requirement.

My favorite recovery drink is a blend of Surge Workout Fuel and MAG-10.

I’ve yet to find anything else that has the same effect on me.
