1st contest

I have been active and working out since JV football am now 35yrs, 5 foot 6, 178 pounds body fat is at 8% as of yesterday taken by calipers in 5 placesI have been training hard for the last 10 weeks supplementing well and dieting well however I am scheduled for my 1st contest in 2 weeks, and I just honestly think I will not be a threat, I am in good shape with good definition …not great my friends say i should go for the contest but there is another one 6 weeks from now .Should I wait until I am satisfied with myself or go through a contest for the experience, I,ll try to post pictures next week.I could use the feedback, It is an NPC event and I am as clean as you get any feed back helpful…

Do the first one and use it as a learning curve. Watch the video of your show and see you weak and strong points, how good the tan looked etc.
Posing infront of a mirror is quite different to being on stage.
Plus it could give you the motivation to go hard for the next show.

Yes I would suggest going to first one also. Although I will taper that thought with a suggestion of not doing the full contest prep before this one, since the next one is only 4 weeks after it?

By full prep i’m talking swolecat’s 7 day program. I think the recovery time might be too long for the 4 weeks in between and you would not have a lot of time to work on your lacking areas if you are in recovery.

For the next two weeks, pose your ASS off. Pose between sets; hit a few shots in the morning right out of bed; pose at night; pose at work (I use to go into the ladies room).

Get the picture? Stop the cardio and rely on the posing sessions from here til that contest. Also, pose in a variety of lighting; don’t just pose in that one really good area in the gym that makes you look amazing in the mirror.

As what Antiliberal said: don’t go all out on your pre-contest prep for this one, wait to do all that for the contest in 6-weeks.

Something else you should know. Bodyfat % means NOTHING in a BB show. It’s HOW you look on stage that matters.

i somewhat disagree with the other guys on this one.
try some of the prinicples that you will emply pre show to see how you will react to these methods (to carb up or not, how you resond to water salt manipulation etc) just dont do the full blown carb down/up water restriction etc

hope we all still be friends…

Whetu I fail to see the disagreement here?

Looks like patricia and myself suggested to just not do the full prep, meaning do a partial prep. And you are saying the same.

Either way, go for it. Have fun. Pose a lot, get psyched up, enjoy yourself. If it’s not fun it will show.
