1st Annual Gold's Gym Raw Bench Meet, Manassas

He folks. I’m going to be putting on my first powerlifting meet at the Gold’s in Manassas, Va. It will be held on Saturday, January 23rd. weigh ins will be at 9 and everything else will follow promptly. This first time around will be unsanctioned. If we have a good turn out I will get a sanctioning body and open it up to either push/pull or even a full meet.

Entry fee will be $10. We are think’n about using the Gold’s gym lifting guy logo as the trophy. that’s the one with the bodybuilder holding the barbell at waist level. anyway, it’s going to be pretty cool.

This will mainly be advertised among the different gyms in the area but non-members are welcome as well.

There will be no preregistration. If you are interested, shoot me a PM with your name, weight and age. For this first meet I’ll be splitting up the weight and age groups based on who signs up. There are also sign up sheets in the manassas and chantilly Gold’s gyms.

rules for competition

-butt must stay in contact with the bench throughout the lift
-you can either take a lift off or lift off on your own. either way, the bar must start at arm’s length. there won’t be a “start” command. you just have to have it at arm’s length to begin
-cannot move feet after the lift has begun. you can have feet flat or up on your toes but they must stay that way througout the lift
-lower under control and pause the bar contacting the chest. wait for a “press” command.
-bar cannot move downward after the “press” command
-once the bar is pressed to arm’s length, the lifter must wait for a “rack” command.

the rules are very straight forward. there won’t be any micromanaging.

for further info, send me a PM.

thanks,

Christopher Drummond

Good luck with your first meet! If it wasn’t 8 hours away and my worst lift, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
