190 Pounds Disappointing

i was similarly disappointed when i hit 6’ 210. i… just… wasn’t THAT big. Keep in mind you are much larger than you were, so comparatively your enormous. Imagine someone seeing you for the first time since you were 130, my family is good for this, some of them i only see once a year or less and they have often commented on the changes in my body when i thought i looked essentially the same. Just keep going, you will get there.

yup, good points, you see yourself everyday Ive gained 30lbs this year and sometimes I still fell like I am nowhere close to where I want to be.

Than I run into someone I have not seen in along time and the look on their face makes it all worth it.

Or I will see an old pic and go I used to look like THAT?!?!
Just keep working hard eating right and getting stronger its all any of us can do. It is a life style

i just hit 190 a few weeks back at a body fat % right at 10%. i must say i’m disappointed as well. i’m bigger and stronger than i’ve ever been before, but i steel feel like the same skinny kid i was in high school. 215 here i come.

first i would say good job, i know how much discipline something like this takes…second i’d pretty much say the same thing that everyone has, your next goal weight is what YOU think is right for you, at 5’11 my goal is 300…i doubt our goals would be the same, but whatever you chose i wish you luck - take care!

im about 6 ft-6 ft 1 and just hit 230 with about 14-15 bodyfat, still not satisfied…250 here i come

What do you guys think a respectable weight would be for a 6 foot guy given assuming the bodyfat doesn’t raise to high?

6’, 200 lbs. and a low bf% looks good. It’s not big, but it’s a good base. I’ve never seen a 6’ tall male weighing 220 at a lowish bf% whom I didn’t consider to be big.

One thing you can do: Look at athletes who are required to weigh in, i.e., boxers and MMA guys. You can sort the fighters by weight at ufc.com. That will give you a feel for what given weights look like on someone your height.

You cannot trust those weights because many of them cut water to make weight and actually walk around heavier.[/quote]

He’s right. I prefer to look at NFL players’ heights and weights (they pretty much all have very low body fats, except for linemen) and compare physiques.

Why would u want to be 300 pounds at your height? I could understand if u were tall. Do u do stongman contests ? or just want to get as big a possible?

To the OP well done on your weight gain.Just look at someone like Randy orton from wwe.He is 6’5 245 pounds and looks great. So u really dont need to weigh some enormous weight to look good.its all about illusion.Focus on getting your shoulders wider and upper legs bigger and waist smaller to get that whole illusion going.

Keep it up bro

I feel you, I’m 5’8 and recently broke 180 which was a mini goal. I’m still feel small, albeit with a small bulk belly.

Real goal is to break 200, and get rid of the belly. This would be a nice improvement from being 130 in High school.

Good luck with your goals!

You all have been very helpful. I’m thinking its time to try a slow clean bulk and really focus on bringing up my lifts. Thanks for the advice so far. Heres one more question for you all to ponder.

What are your opinions/experiances with Thib’s truth about bulking article.
I know a lot of skinny guys read that article and started thinking they needed to cut.

But as far as a long term goal, would it be retarded of me to drop down to 10% bf (probably just below 180lbs) and just start a slow clean bulk?
Or am i still skinny enough that i could get away with a long term clean bulk and slowly drop down to 10% while i’m doing it?

In case you don’t wanna scroll back up, heres a reminder, i’m 6’ 190lbs and aobut 15% bodyfat.

I’m about 6’ 210 at 15% bf, and I still feel small too. Obviously I recognize I have more muscle mass than average, but I still don’t feel big. My next goal is 230 10% bf, I’ll tell you how I feel then.

because i want more, because being the biggest and strongest around here doesn’t satisfy me, because i love the look in all the “tall” guys’ face when i warm up with their heavy sets, because i can’t stop progress, because everytime i step in the gym i lift more than last and i love that…the list goes on

(by the way, most successful heavyweight bodybuilders are at my height or shorter and get up to 300 and up in the offseason…and i’m 5-11, not like i’m a midget)

You’re 5’11, there’s really no reason to have a short guy complex. At least for the US, that’s above average height.

Don’t know how much this applies to MMA, but for many high-profile boxing matches they hold the official weigh-in the day before and then weigh the fighters again (for informational purposes only) in the dressing rooms just before they come into the ring. Those pre-fight weights can be 10-15 pounds heavier than the official weights and tend to be much closer to the fighters’ walk-around weights.

Weigh-ins on on Friday for a Saturday fight.

Obviously some guys lose a few pounds for weigh-in. Some don’t. Hence, why the picutures will help you get a feel for different height/weight combinations. It varies, sure, but that’s where the feel comes in.

I’m 6’1", so not too far off your height. I’m currently shooting for 245lbs (yay - just 35 more to go!) and then I’ll diet a bit and see what that looks like. If I want to go bigger then - I will.

Keep rolling man. I thought 175 on a guy who’s 5’7 would be decent, but now I realize I have to get around 190 to be where I want.

It happens.

Good job on your progress already

i only said that 'cause it seemed like he was poking fun at my height, which is something i’m ok with…not sure if you saw that last line i wrote…“i’m 5-11, not like i’m a midget”

Chill out.I wasnt making fun of your height 5’10-5"11 are average height, not short at all.I was just curious as to why u would want to weigh that much?

U mention the bodybuilders who get up to or even more than 300 pounds ,thats all well and good but these guys in the offseason look like a big water filled bag of goo.Contest shape most dont get above 260-270pounds unless your name is Ronnie coleman.
But if that is your goal then i can respect that.

Good luck with your goal’s and dont be so freakin touchy little man hahaha just kiddin

Peace

6 ft, 190 at a 5-8% or so bodyfat % is in the range of an NFL defensive back and some receivers. Just watched the Packers today Donald Driver is that size and ripped (have seen him in person).

Much depends on your frame size, with a large frame, yes, you’re probably looking at more weight to look big, with a small frame, you’re probably in the ballpark now weight-wise.

Understand, I’ve seen these guys in shorts and no shirts at training camp, they still look like bad asses.
