Not at all, the douchebags are the ones coming in these threads about size talking about how size isn’t everything. It was a reference to a comment made by someone in the 17 inch arm thread.

Great job Austin (even without the “etched in” definition haha), I knew you had it in you. Now onto 19.
Once you’ve brought your tris up to match your bis, that’s pretty much going to be another 1.5-2 inches on your arm…
Hit those close-grips hard my friend!
And no worries about your delts… We’ll find a way if the current plan doesn’t do the trick.

Yeah brother some added tri mass will definately do me good.
I think the delts are going to be coming along well. Once I can handle 6-8 plates per side on the HS behind the neck press I think my delts will be coming in pretty good, be using the same weights as in-human ;).

18" is the benchmark for decent genetics (in my opinion). If you can get there relatively lean with a decent shape to them, you can probably go as far as you please if you put the time in.
I’m assuming this doesn’t take into account height/frame?
I’d say 18" at 5’10" and then 1/2 for every inch in height
so for me
I am 5’7" with 16" biceps @ 7% BF [7P calipers]
were a swole 12" when I started lol
so according to my modified X benchmark I should be 16.5
my aim is 17" @ 10% BF or less [I’m not overly concerned with being lean but I do tend to stay relatively lean even when gaining]
almost ‘swole’
height and frame probably should be taken into account a little bit, but I still think 18" should be the benchmark regardless. If I went on your “modified X benchmark” I reached mine within a month of training, which is pretty bullshit. Not sure what kind of “measurement rules” are normal, but it should probably be less than the 1/2" you suggested.
It’d be nice to have some more experienced guys chip in.
Great work Austin. I’m hoping to post in your 17" thread sometime soon.
2nd the motion on douchebags posting pictures of arms less than 18" in this thread. No need to repeat what happened in the 17" thread. 18" is 18" no matter how tall or short you are.

+1.
Tape or it didn’t happen. The proof is in the tape (shoe optional).
Do some people really want to post in this thread SO bad that they are coming up with random equations in order to qualify?
This thread is about 18" guns. That’s the subject of this thread, no matter how you wanna slice it. Rather than getting your calculator out, go lift something heavy.
The “I’m X” so I’m not quite there yet!" posts are fine (so long as you don’t waste space with pictures as evidence of your shortcomings)… the “Well, I’m not as tall, so X-1.2753” is fine for me" is just lame.

Props to ya, austin.[/quote]
Agreed. If you are freakishly tall or freakishly short, obviously we are not talking about you when we discuss what most people see at a certain measurement. 18" again is a measurement the MAJORITY will never even reach. If you get there relatively lean, then yes, you have above average genetics for muscle growth…which is exactly what you fucking need to do well in this activity. Whether you plan to compete or not, walking around with arms bigger than most people on the planet is an accomplishment that no one in the V-Diet will ever achieve.
People with smaller arms hate this. They want to be acknowledged as a big fucker as well. The problem is, in an activity like this, yes, size does matter. No one cares about your “functionality” or how many “combat pyramids” you can do. This is about big fuckers with big fucking arms. If you don’t have them, either build some or stay out of the thread.
If you are working hard at doing just that, you are welcome. If you are someone trying to make your 16" arms get the praise of those with 18", just stop.
First thing, I’m more focused on the big picture. I’ll think about definition when I’m 24-25 and I’m much bigger than I am now.
Fat gain. Everyone gains fat when getting significantly bigger. I guess my big increases in lifting poundages came from that fat gain. Nothing to do with more muscle.
Your and idiot, always makeing idiotic posts. What are your stats, been trainging for 30 years and probably can’t bench 315?
PS I’m not trying to look like an MMA fighter. I’ll be much bigger then that guy when I’m his age.
He said he has achieved 18" arms, which he has. He never claimed they were ripped, and nor should they be right now. Perhaps he is interested in actually making some progress.
Once again, this is a bodybuilding forum. BODYBUILDING. BODY-BUILDING. BO-DY-BUILD-ING. Not an MMA or “toning up” or “etching in” forum. Understand?
Also, anyone making negative comments about other peoples’ progress should post their own pics for assessment. Where are yours?
I don’t get it, guys.
Why do you even bother to reply to the obvious haters/trolls?
Stop feeding those attention whores.
@Taufiq
Not bad, dude. How about a front double bi?

Didn’t you do the V-Diet, ProX? Couldn’t resist, lol.
Great work man. To go from 17 to 18 in a year is fantastic progress and your arms don’t look blubbery to me, just not ripped. At your age 18 inch arms are quiet large, even in the gym rat world of older men 18 in can be respectable. If you can get to 19 inch arms in another year with similar body fat you will be well on your way to huge arms. Keep it up!
Hey man, congrats on your progress, now I will not say you have “burger king arms” because that is simply not true. However, I think there is a common misconception on this website that you need to add a good deal of fat to add muscle. Obviously we can all debate this fact, but everyone is different. I don’t think adrian peterson (from the vikings) bulked and then underwent a cut to achieve his current physique, same with thomas jones, etc.
I understand most people are severely impatient but I personally believe it is possible to add muscle at a nice pace while keeping bf at bay. Again, a ton of this comes down to genetics, so let’s be more understanding when recommending this one-size-fits-all approach of bulk/cut with everyone who asks about body composition.
Keep up the work though Austin, no doubt you will hit 19 soon.

It isn’t about what “COULD” happen. It is about what IS happening. We can debate POSSIBILITIES for years, but to look at the vast majority of people who got really big and arrive at the conclusion that striving for a single digit body fat reading the entire ride from small to huge is the way to go is a tad naive.
If YOU can do that, great. No one is telling anyone to gain any more body fat than is necessary to reach a goal.
So, have YOU gotten that big while staying at single digit body fat readings? If not, then why talk about what COULD be?

Thanks man! I’ll probably put the pic in my profile so as not to hijack Austin’s thread too much. I tried taking a front bi shot, but my mirror is too low, just below my neck and I don’t have a proper camera with a timer so I can’t take a proper pic lol. You’re a beast btw, just read your thread on the Alpha forum.
Great job Austin. You’ve always stood out to me on this board as someone who will go far with this. 18 is a milestone acheivment, but keep in mind 18 to 19 is a much harder longer road. The bigger your arms get the more muscle it takes to increase the circumfrence, so don’t get too caught up in the numbers as long as they are growing.
