18 Inch Arms

Curious what weight are you guys curling :P. Or your best bicep lifts .[/quote]

Got 60lb for 8 reps on 1-arm db preacher curl with fairly strict reps last week. I haven’t done BB curls in a while but I’d probably be good for 135 for about 8 reps.

For triceps I’ve done “reverse grip smith machine bench on a slight incline” (long) with 315 for 4 reps.

I usually try and just get a skin-splitting pump (10+ reps, high volume) when I train my arms anyway, I’ll see how strong I am on the first exercise, then just try and pump them up as much as possible afterwards.

hey this is my update as far as of 18" to 18 14/16" unpumped. hopefully i will be hitting 19" in a month and 20" by december. who knew being short would have such great advantages.

Hey austin Great work on the gains.aswell as the strength improvance needed to get them would you reckon there is a rough bodyweight milestone someone your height would have to reach before they got to 18 inch arms?I hope I phrased that right.Im 6:2 and 205 now which is nothing so Im looking for something to shoot for.

Everyone is different man and I first had my 18s at 252 pounds, I am sub 240 now and have arms that are more muscular, 1/4 inch bigger and stronger. There are many factor that play into this. Only thing I can say for sure is to get your arms bigger than they are now, you need to gain weight.

From todays workout.

I’ll just post random thoughts, videos, photos etc. in here.

I have to say my arms have gotten a bit smaller then when I weighed 260 now chilling in the mid230’s, but they look better and although gaining size on your arms is gratifying it is the mirror and progress in the gym that ultimately matters.

When I bulk up again I am going for 20 inch guns, but I am going to approach things a bit differently. I pigged out a lot over my last bulk eating everything and although I was my biggest, I wasn’t looking too hot and I wish I didn’t let myself go that bad. I have gotten many compliments over these last few weeks especially from female friends I have not seen since the start of the semester and now since summer is here everyone is home and I am told often how lean and good I am looking, but I still need a lot more work.

What I am thankful for is the learning experience this has been and still is. I am glad I decided to go on an all out bulk and I am now learning how to diet. I am 10 times smarter when it comes to training than I was a year ago and I know myself through experimentation.

I am happy all around and encourage those who are new to this game and those plateaued to just try new shit. When I first tried a single body part weekly split I was nervous as fuck cause I was so used to training chest every other day, but it worked out. When I was dieting I was nervous as fuck because I thought I’d get weak and now I am sitting here, and although will probably lose another 15 pounds or so, I am gaining strength at an incredible rate.

I could not bench 315 x 2 incline or 315 x 8 flat at 260 or Row 315 x 8 as I did tonight, but here at 235 I am doing it all and still getting stronger. Try new things, experiment, forget about the tape measure and scale if dieting and just go with it. The tape measure and scale are good when bulking, but can also be discouraging on a diet.

You can do whatever you set your mind to, and I tell myself this every day. I can still remember when people told me I looked like shit when I first entered these boards at 17, I can still remember losing a bench off, not being able to press 115 in 9th grade and now I can do over 3 times that much, channel all the negativity into the positivity of you doing you and becoming your best and you will be successful no matter what.

^^good post. I’m hoping to break into this thread by the end of the year. I seriously neglected direct arm work (well direct bicep work) for the past couple years and Im at 16.75 unpumped but flexed now.

Ha well that’s what the point is anyways.

Arnold always talks about gaining control of his mind, and the mind being the most important tool in his success and I always was like wtf does that mean until I finally experienced it and now it’s one of the biggest tools in my aresenal. I guess it comes with age and experiencing those times where you really don’t feel like doing something but you wind up making it enjoyable just by changing your attitudes.

Yeah man, that’s good stuff. I can’t wait till i’m benching 315 (no where even close right now tbh) I just started BBB ( Big Beyond Belief ) hopefully i can get similar results as modok got on it. Im gonna put my heart into it.

yeah man 315 is an exciting weight to hit.

no idea what they measure at the moment, hopefully add another inch or two this year. I’m one of those lucky people that don’t really need to train arms that hard to get good results

should of said no idea pumped, however they do look stupid when I get blood in them. I need too bring up a lot of areas to make it more symmetrical.

I can’t flex them as hard when they are pumped, but they definitely look better relaxed pumped, vs. nonpumped.

Chest and tris today, I do work triceps too

My arms are only 18.5" now that I’m lean so I’m stuck with you scrubs…sigh lol jk
