our gym only goes up to 140’s. this was the only time i taped a rep set of dumbell presses. if i was fresh, i think i’m good for something around 30 reps with the 140’s.

awesome.

mad awesome.

The most I ever did was 120 x 6. I could have done more reps at one point but wasn’t doing DB bench at the time. :frowning:

Are there any lifts you don’t have a video of? In any gym I’ve been too I have never seen anyone with a camera even.
i have vids of most PR attempts as part of my contract agreement with my powerlifting sponsorship.

do you db bench cross style to 90 or elbows in? I’ve always found that guys who do cross style don’t go down as far and use alot more weight than the latter. I remember benching the 100’s like that for 5 reps when I could only bb bench 225x3, but when I tried db benching tucked with a slightly more neutral grip going down farther and it was much harder due to the ROM increase.

I would guess I flare my elbows more than tucking them, but I don’t ever really think about it. My hand are probably around parallel with my nips, but I never have a problem with range of motion. You can only go to 90 degrees when you flare your elbows?
It’s not that I can’t but I just notice that people who flare tend not to go down as much for some reason. Doesen’t really matter it was just on my mind, saw Branch Warren tuck and go past 90 on db press and decided to try it. If you are tri dominant on bb bench I reccomend trying that style as it seems to rely on tri strength to go heavy but also stretches the pecs almost like a fly movement. Also not locking out helps.

I’ve done 150s x 6 on flat DB bench, deep stretch and full lockout, at 6’1" 190 extremely lean. Best barbell 325 x 5. Rowed the 150 for 15 reps at that time.

I really don’t know what good is. Everyone is different. I’m somewhat proud of hitting the 150s for bench, but my squat and deadlift suck, and that’s what I know matters more, so I’m focusing on those now.

My new gym has 155s, so I might start using some dumbbells again.

Fair enough–I am extremely tri and delt dominant on presses, so I have been focusing on bringing the dumbbells wide and getting a good stretch of the chest at the bottom.

Ive done the 150s for reps. But after almost 2 years of not barbell benching, I tried it again and got 300 pounds for only 7 reps. I was disappointed, i expected an easy ten.
