Thats when people who work hard come into their own, and a lot of others fall off the radar, move back in with their parents or wreck their life with drugs.
At teen age years kids are barely distinguishable in any real ways except for the truly outstanding.
After graduation the split begins.
By 30 there is enough difference to clearly see that Timmy done good and Joey needs to put down the dope.
And the kid who was supposed to be the next Mario Lemieux either has become that or wrecked 4 cars and wonât shut up about âThat one timeâŠâ.
But Joey was getting laid for doing bas and Timmy is just now getting attention from girls. Girls who have probably already slept with âJoeysâ for fun, but want a ring out of Timmy.
Did something change in Timmy or were Joeyâs exes now interested in things beyond what Joey had to offer?
Usually a good bit of both. Timmy became stronger through learning and experience, and has a long bountiful life ahead of him.
Joey had a couple good years slightly resembling Eminem or who ever, and now heâs dead.
In as much as women (very generally speaking) like the dangerous bad boy when their younger, guys of the same age like the hot silly sluts.
Life is no better for their opposite sex counterparts. The world can be extremely harsh to women who have nothing to offer but some decent tits and spankable ass if they donât develop some skills and abilities beyond being titillating.
Timmy should not be going after whores. He should be using his big brain.
If, however, he is making up for lost time and wants to play the game now that he has âleveled upâ then he risks getting played by a pro.
The saying is also âgirls will be all over youâ.
In those circles the idea is that you are now successful, confident, etc. and are going after younger women in their prime. Not bitter women whose biological clock is bashing them over the head and want to settle for stability.
In the example Timmy is now in charge it does not matter that âthere is enough difference to clearly see that Timmy done goodâ he no longer needs validation from the losers.
That is the point of the increased maturity and financial stability. The confidence and self-assuredness.
It definitely is some of the wrong guidance with the opposite sex.
Maybe some of these types of people didnât marry as often as others in the past, but considering marriage was open to nearly everyone who wanted it in the past. So eccentric people would be mostly included, I believe. But as we know, things have drastically changed.
I believe the increase in neurosis, and yes, weakness and lack of tolerance for hardship results from a soft, sheltered life which a huge chunk of boomers and successive generations had, including myself.
Successive generations has less children around, so people had less exposure to them and werenât raised to deal with or have empathy and patience for them.
I have learned from my job dealing with old, sick, and handicapped people and students, having kids of my own, and being around otherâs children that to deal with very young, old, and sick people requires near limitless empathy and patience. If people do not have that, they shouldnât bother, I think.
Not offensive at all.
I did, actually. By virtue of who knows how, I lived through my late teens, mid 20âs, and beyond.
Please donât ask me how. I truly have absolutely no idea. Iâm often torn between feeling somehow protected by some supernatural force, or cursed by one.
I listed 4 things, it could be more but, the idea is that with age there is a growth, progression or if you want to get poetic a metamorphosis. You have to work on yourself.
"Just wait until youâre 30, girls will be all over you. "
If all that mattered is that you are financially successful/stable then age would not be a part of the quote. What if you win the lottery? Money is not magic.
If all you offer is money and you are still weak, lack confidence etc. then yes you may be taken advantage of.
I donât know. I admittedly didnât hang around these crowds much. I do have a friend whose son is a big time âgamerâ. He has zero interest in girls. Or guys. Or anything but games. It is weird and disgusting, and itâs him. I doubt this is due to feminism. Or transvestites. Or a massive change in societal dynamics in general. There have always been âoutsidersâ, for better or worse. This isnât a cataclysmic failure in shifting views of neoclassical gender roles. Heâs just a weirdo. And he should be himself. Not everyoneâs life needs to mirror the next person.
I think itâs hard to track how many ânerdsâ are switching from other nerdy, isolated, asexual lifestyles and hobbies to gaming as video games become more prolific, but I doubt the number of people in question are changing even if their chosen entertainment is. I definitely doubt feminism is to blame for video game obsession.
I still believe they should be themselves. No reason to force a square peg through a round hole.
I always wonder what itâs like for people who live behind curated masks as an alternative. I imagine professional functions and events. A homogenous dress code of suits (maybe a snazzy tie or socks, but not too snazzy. Herringbone patterns are wild, imo), very topical conversations and basically a neutral decorum in general for fear of being rejected professionally by showing too many cards someone doesnât like. I think this can work, and deeper professional relationships can be teased out over time, but I canât imagine it in personal life. The fake laughs, the posturing, drinking just enough from the open bar to make it tolerable while staying tight and on and on until itâs finally over and you throw your suit in the corner of the hotel room and canât wait to fly home to real life, except there isnât one because itâs how somebody lives in general. Be a game playing nerd instead if thatâs the real you. There are other nerds who want companionship and sex too. Ride the right wave.
Sex is still happening man. I donât know where these studies are going to be filled out, but in what amount to occasional nights out these days, if my buddies and I stumble in to the wrong bar and are the old dudes in a corner until we can cash out and leave, the scene isnât much different than I remember. Lots of 20 somethingâs, clothes designed for attention, you can feel the sexual tension in the air, see the beginning of hookups happeningâŠ. If there is a problem itâs people forming opinions through MSM and cultivated, viral online talk tracks.
