I took my g/f to the gym with me today and brought in my phone to video her deadlifting.
She is 42 years old, 110lbs and 5 feet tall. Here is her doing 242lbs (110k) for 3 reps. I will need to work with her some more on form and am certain she has a 300lb single.
Keep in mind this is 6 weeks post carpal tunnel surgery and she is just getting back into the weights.
Can’t tell on the first 1 because of the front on camera angle, but I would have to give her a red light on numbers 2 & 3.
Knees have to lock out. This is the difference between gym lifts and competition lifts. Lots of people get red lighted because they don’t know the rules of the game. Squat and bench are even worse.
When she goes for a max, treat it as if it were in comp. Use the verbal and hand signals just to get used to it.
Otherwise looked like good form and like she had lots left in her. She must scare the shit out of a lot of guys in the gym.
Congrats.
It was actually pretty funny. There are 2 platforms side by side and I was working with another fellow deadlifting. He was doing working sets with 90kg and while she was warming up I got her to jump in and do a set of 6 at that weight…needless to say the other poor fellow decided to call it a day.
Impressive! Of course being so small the weight doesnt have to travel far but that’s me being an overanalytic ass. My GF is actually about the same size and younger so I’ll show her!
Great, didnt liek how she “slammed” into that first lift, I see a lotta ppl doing that in comps. trying to pull the bar off the ground with a lot of force. But its all about stregnth. Dont try to jerk it off the floor. rock back on the heals/feet, make sure ur shoulders are behind the bar, and THRUST with de hips. make sure ur knees are in time with your back/hips. Over all…needs work. But I give 8/10 stars.
Form=Prettty good! needs just a wee bit of work.
Straps??? I wouldnt reccomend em. jst my opinion tho.
245 lbs @ a body wt of 110? Pretty badass.
