Hi, I was just reading the article on the 10000 rep to fat loss, which was done with kettel bell. So my question is could it be done with a more compound movement I.e dead lift or squat or even power clean? Would you get the same benefits? I was thinking exclusively training like that deadlift to start with, with additional work of one arm snatch a sprint on allternating days.
I think using deadlifts would be a disaster. You run the risk of your form breaking down and risking injury along with some serious CNS fatigue.
Just do it man, the people telling you no are the same ones that are gonna be left behind while you become stronger than ever.

I would be very interested in seeing how 10 000 reps of squats would be, any takers to try it out?
Im starting a 30, 000 rep challenge.

For the record, movements listed so far are not more compound than KB swings. They were selected for simplicity of movement and number of muscle groups worked. Squats are good although technically this works fewer muscle groups. Clean and press works nearly every muscle but is probably too complex to work with such high reps

I like the enthusiasm, looks like I am going to start Sunday, should be fun to see if I can manage 10,000 DL in 10 days!!!

My plan is to work to the clean, so first try the DL have a rest bout 5 days try the squat, same rest and try the clean; this providing I manage the DL first time.
Ok…so, seriously…you are planning to do 1,000 cleans a day for 10 days, is that right? And then do the same with deadlifts some other time?
I respect your desire to experiment, but I am seriously concerned for your lower back. It’s going to be very difficult to maintain strict form on either of those exercises for the kind of rep schemes you are looking at.
If you want to try it, I don’t suppose anyone has a right to stop you…but I don’t think this sounds like a great idea.

I was going do DL first, obviously no guarantee, I will get a 1000 a day, in the set amount of days; but if I don’t try, I will never know. I see where people are coming from about form and lower back ect, if I do feel form slipping I will do triples until I reach my desired number of reps. In the case of injury coming I will back off straight away. But as I said if I get only 6000 reps in 10 days, I will have 4 - 5 days off and hit the workout again to see if I can increase a reach the desired goal in 10 days.
You only live once, so why not push your limits every now and again.
I think the idea behind the KB swing is that it is:
a basic compound movement (a fundamental human movement)
Easily repeatable for multiple reps per set without pause
adaptable to hit aerobic or anaerobic systems
any other movement would be, at the proposed volume, silly

Hey…that’s cool man. Like I said…nobody has the right to tell you no. Have at it. By all means, let us know what happens.
Well tried the challenge; hardest thing by far and only managed 4500 reps. So not even half but I intend to give it another go and see if I can beat the previous bench mark. Results wise after my break I def feel my speed dl is slightly faster; haven’t had a chance to measure it yet tho.
Are you literally just doing this to see if you can? Because doing that much volume for deadlifts is the least effective way of training I could possibly imagine. So I hope you are only doing it as some sort of arbitrary yolo test… As if that’s any better lol.

I think I liked the challenge if anything else. Also, I wanted to see how it would effect by overall, body comp, conditioning and strength/speed.
It’s not going to do shit for your strength.
Today will be day 3 of my attempt to do this with squats. I’m just using bodyweight but my legs are pretty sore. I think this will have some effect on fat loss, especially coupled with tightenining up of my diet.
