Not much pain so far although I’ve had 6 Percocet today.
I mostly been resting watching movies in bed. I can’t lay on my side at all, but lying flat w/ my arms raised up under pillows feels most comfortable so far.
I eaten 2 grilled chic salads, 4 piece white bread, 2 cups white rice today, and have been drinking plenty of water.
The drains look crazy, but not too uncomfortable. I can understand getting as much fluid away from that area ASAP is important.
I can honestly say tho I already feel a huge relief have this tissue removed. I’ll continue to post pics & thank you very much for any responses.
Not a great night, but barable. Started w/ a bad headache around midnight, which started making me dizzy & nauseous.
I finally had Tylenol around 7am and it help tremendously. I’m feeling pretty good now. I learned its important to stay ahead of the pain by taking Percocet before pain is intense. Feels like I’m “tighten up” or “shrinking” under my bandage so that’s getting a bit painful, but for the most part I’m good. I have appointment @ 4pm tomorrow (Wednesday 2 days post op) to get evaluated and hopefully remove drains. The rom in my arms is improving. It’s 70 degrees in ct today so kinda sux to be stuck in bed most of day, but well worth it.
Thank you for the well wishes. I’ll post more pics today and especially tomorrow when I see doc.
Hanging in there, I feel fine laying in bed, especially w/ pain meds, but when I tried going out to get subs for lunch (my dad drove me) my chest started to hurt, and feel tender. The drains don’t cause pain thus far but they’re a pain in the ass anyway. (Yet I’m sold theyre effective.
Today I woke in pain (mostly headache, but got relief w/ Tylenol & Percocet ) about 6am
Walked around a bit and watch tv till 1pm
Go out for subs, felt cloudy (from pills) and chest is healing so also kinda feels weird
So no pains till 2:30pm, then 2 perks
Feeling much better today. Looking forward to taking out tubes & uncover bandages at 4pm today. After seeing doc hopefully I can start taking a walk or riding my spin bike to get a little sweat going.
I can see the sweeling is going down around nips.(even tho its covered.)
I haven’t taken off bandages yet. It appears very little to no fluid is left draining, so hopefully when I see doc in 3 hrs he’ll remove tubes & bandages. I’m def super curious as to how it looks under there. Not much pain today other than the tape pulling my skin as the are shrinks. I was able to go for a walk today (1 mile) w/o pain and I can move my arm more freely w/o pain, but still can’t reach overhead, that still hurts.
I post after getting home from doc and I should have some good info & pics
So just got home from doc. He removed the drains (not all that painful, more weird feeling) he also removed the tape & bandages first, which hurt like a mfer. He said everything is looking good. However you can see & feel a decent amount of fluid in pec area, which still makes the nips puffy. Its difficult to see the result, but you can feel the hard, rubbery lump is gone. As the sweeling keeps getting better, the results should also look better.
The “fear” & “pain” of the drains is very overrated on the Internet. Yea, it’s not pleasant, but more annoying than painful.
I was hoping it would already look better, but now it’s gonna b a process of massage to break down scar tissues and rest (or possible aspiration) to reduce the sweeling and then it will tighten up more.
Feeling good today, just about all pain is gone. Chest is getting flatter but still a good about of fluid in area. Overall the shape of my pecs looks better, but will continue to improve for another few wks
I’ll return to doc either tomorrow or Monday and possibly asperate the fluid (put in large needle and draw out the fluid)
I’m wearing a under armour tight shirt to keep compression on chest.
It’s been almost 2 weeks wo exercise, so I’m also confident when I start training seriously the pec and lats will have more shape & definition. But it is a surgery which requires patience bc after removing the hard glandular tissue, the area becomes swollen, making it look almost the same. But the difference is u can feel is fluid in there (& it improves a bit everyday) compared to the hard cone shaped lump.
Gets better every wk, dr said another 2-3months for final results, he said very little fluid under the skin and no need for drainage, but the skin cells will retain fluid w/ in them few more months
Thats great so you can train a few weeks after the surgery? If so thats sweet…I can feel a little gumball size lump on each side and some sensitivity, never felt it before but after 4 years of HRT maybe I got some, or maybe its been there my whole life but reading all these threads has me paranoid haha…
Yea, I was surprised that w/ in 3 wks I was able to workout w little to no limitations. The 1st wk you should very still and just rest all day, but by 2.5 wks I resumed light legs and abs, and a wk later was able to lift ad normal. I expected a longer recovery, but the surgery does not involve cutting any muscle tissue, so ther than swelling and tenderness the area heals quickly.
