New episode was kinda slow but I dug it. Watching the hick woman-beater get his face fucking railed into the ground was quite satisfying. I will be staying tuned for next weeks GANG WAR!
Was Boss how he just pummeled that guys face into the ground.
Coming from the perspective of a person that believes the comic books are some of the greatest pieces of graphic literature to ever be created, and has read through all of them multiple times over a number of years
I’m horribly disappointed with the show, and reading in this thread that they are going to butcher it for another 6 episodes is depressing to say the least.
I greatly encourage anyone with even the slightest bit of interest in the television series to pick up the novels.

Whats wrong with taking creative Liberties with the Source material?
Just watched all three episodes yesterday, Certainly nothing new, but if it aint broke dont fix it. Michael Rooker of Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer fame is an awesome actor, great acting overall

I read all of the comics a week or so ago, and wasn’t at all disappointed with the show. As I recall, in the comics glen just takes him straight back to the camp with almost no conflict. That’s easy to do in a comic, but pretty lame to do on a show. I think they’re just adapting to the media involved.
Ok, so the third episode is a what I like to call a “bridge” episode … it introduced the rest of the characters and brought together the “opening act” so to speak…
A little disappointed in the lack of zombies in this episode but in the grand scheme of story telling it was much needed plot development…now we have strained relations between the Grimes’ and Shane…we know that SPOILER Merle is walking around Zombielang sans his right hand and his brother is just as redneck as he is…
Plus the glimpse at the next episode should make the rest of this first season fuckin’ incredible…

He does sound like a “book purist”. They are the types who think Lord of the Rings was a waste of money.
I like the show. Making a movie or tv show from book material and relating it EXACTLY is almost impossible to do without it being boring as hell to watch. The only movie that came very close that I can think of is The Mist by Stephen King and even they completely rewrote the ending and had to expand on the dialogue because showing what people are THINKING is hard as hell to do without GREAT acting and a hell of a good writer.
I thought last nights episode was awesome, and I’m sure next week’s will more than make up for the lack of zombies in it. This is one of the best new shows to come along in a long time.

I already have read the comics, so I do not see how I would benefit from seeing it on screen again.
Also, if they started using the rather slow pace of the comic books the show would be cancelled.
I would rather have a few more seasons of entirely new zombie madness than what I have already seen before for half a season.

I didnt read the comics, but when Glenn and the main character (forgot the name) covered themselves in guts it reminded me of Shaun of the Dead
All zombie movies rip off each other…like the fact that zombies can now run when they couldn’t when Romero first did his movies. the “afraid of fire” issue or even “shoot them in the head” is all taken from past movies and other people build on it. Nothing in Shaun of The dead was original aside from it being one of the few comedies that worked in that genre until Zombieland came out.
In a sense Shaun of the Dead is the most original, I mean what zombie flick ever had the main character’s best friend turn into a zombie and NOT get killed but actually is saved and chained up in the basement and allowed to play video games…fucking classic

Which reminds me of the fact that he said: “If I survive this, I’ll tell my family about [guy they disemboweled]”.
Now he’s been reunited with his wife and son but I don’t recall him saying anything along the lines of “Hey, honey! In order to get to you in this cool truck I ripped out this guy’s guts and smeared 'em all over my body.”

I am disappoint in his hypocrit.

I’m pretty sure he said “I’ll never tell my family about this”.

Nah, he said he would mention his name for helping him.

I don’t know why I posted in a thread where people that enjoy the show are having discussions about it and started telling them what they like isn’t a good as what i like.
Pretty much I realized I sound too similar to the functional training people that post in bodybuilding threads on these boards.
Anyway, I’m probably being a bit too book purist(NO SHIT) like X said but I really did enjoy the first episode so maybe I’ll stick around for few more episodes before passing absolute judgment on the show.

My mistake, I just remember reading the comic where they said something along the lines of “don’t ever tell anyone we did this”.
Fuck details. The essence of the comic and the essence of the series is to explore how far humanity will resort to inhumanity in a time of crisis. The zombie plague is just a catalyst for that.
The scary part is that we don’t need a zombie apocalypse to bring out the worst in us so we can justify head stomping a stranger for bare essentials… we just need department store sales.
