ZMA and Elevated T Levels

Cy or anyone,

What are your thoughts on elevating ZMA consumption beyond recommended dose?

3 caps = 30 mg ZMA, twice the RDA but still 70mg below the threshold where some have reported problems from copper absorption, and far, far below dangerous levels.

I have tinkered with higher doses for extended periods of time. I noticed higher sex drive, some lethargy, and slightly poorer skin, but nothing else. Of course I am sure that it is very difficult to tell whether and to what extent a certain product has enhanced one’s recovery.

BTW,

Re. basic use – I sometimes have trouble GETTING to sleep because I sometimes feel like I have more energy rather than feeling sleepy. However, once I get to sleep, I’m out like a light – I never wake up during the night, and I sleep deep enough that it is sometimes harder to get up in the morning. And dreams are vivid.

My 2 cents. I agree with most everyone else. It helps me sleep better. This I can say with confidence. As far as t-levels, tough to say. I’m currently doing an Alpha Male + Carbolin 19 cycle and I just came off RED KAT, so I’m thinkin I got that covered regardless.

Anyone got strong views on brands / effectivness of ZMA?

One study - and it’s only one as far as I know - showed strong gains in T among athletes. I’ll try to pull up the numbers. But here’s the very important thing to realize: one of the sponsor’s of the study was ZMA’s “inventor” and so he had a lot to gain by strong positive results. That’s not to say the study was erroneous, but it’s just something you always want to keep in mind…

I love ZMA.
It helps me sleep and recover.
My dreams are entertaining.
Im horny as hell.
I can knock down drywall with my morning wood.

Back in 99, I had a nagging forearm “stitch,” almost like a shin splint kind of pain. Over the course of several weeks, it would not go away. I started taking Biotest ZMA and the pain was gone within three days.

Coincidentally, around the same time, I talked to a high level athletic trainer who indicated that a lot of injury prone NFL players had zinc deficiencies and were taking ZMA with quite a bit of success.

Overall, I think it contributed to some of the most notable strength gains I have ever made. I used it for several weeks, maybe even three months or so. It seemed like I could get some righteous and long lasting pumps. After awhile, it started bothering my gut, so I quit. I still use it from time to time, I just can’t take it for more than a few days without getting the “gastro” issues.
