ZM Training log: Up Up and away

Do you have a means to access a kindle app?

I’m not sure, I have Google playstore on my android phoe but even then that’s still money I need to spend to buy the digital version. And I hate digital books I can’t read them right, If I read a book I gotta read a physical book. I will check the local library for it sometime this week though

You are creating several unnecessary roadblocks for yourself. My intent was to offer to purchase you a kindle copy of these books, to help further your progress (an offer I have made to several teenaged trainees in the past, and have gone through with on multiple occasions).

I wish you luck on your library endeavor. In the absence of success there, I feel like the approach I outlined with 5/3/1 would be rather successful. Jim also has a free program online labeled “5/3/1 for beginners” which would be effective.

I checked the library website, and as with most books I want, they don’t have it.

Could you? That’s a really generous offer I don’t know what to say really except please if you will.

My only condition is, upon receiving the book(s), you read it entirely, follow one of the programs from the Tactical Barbell book, and log your training and eating here for the next 3 months to display your progress. Are you willing/able to do so?

I would be willing, And as long as there is a workout that doesn’t require a sled or other equipment the gym I go to doesn’t have, I am able to do so.

Fantastic. I’ll send you a message in order to get an e-mail address from you and will send the books your way.

All conditioning for Tactical Barbell can be done with a pair of running shoes. More can be added, but if all you can do is run, you’ll be fine. And if you’re stuck indoors, a skipping rope could be used instead.

I’ll be setting you up with his book for strength and his book for conditioning. I’d suggest putting aside a dollar a week to save up the $10 for his Mass Protocol Book, which you could follow after 3 months of his strength book. If, however, that $10 pricetag still proves to be insurmountable after 3 months of the strength work, I can find it in my heart/wallet to get that book for as you well, as long as you held up your end of the bargain here.

I believe the Kindle app is free. I have it on my phone and do most of my reading there.

PRs hit today!

I went for bench and deadlift. Im pretty happy.

Benchpress: 3 reps of 160 lbs

Deadlift: 1 rep of 275 (I was trying for 3 but I couldn’t get it up a second time

Macros for today:
3118 calories
229g protein
345g carbs
94g fat

Shoulder pain from bench press

During, my bench press, my shoulder hurts a little. It also hurts somewhat when I do an external rotation. Its only my right shoulder. Any suggestions? It also hurts if I press my fist onto the wall and push, an emulation of bench press.

It’s not a lot but I know this type of pain. If I don’t try to fix it its gonna get a lot worse.

Also hurts when I rotate my arm outward to make Palm facing up. Starting to hurt a little more. Not good

For clarification, its on the lateral head side, nearing the rear delt.

Shoulder feels pretty much fine today. Gonna go easy on it, though, and just do some shoulder stretches.

Just sent both books your way. Remember our deal: I am looking forward to your next 3 months of logging!

Alright thanks, I will look to starting it next week. Its great timing, Il have this week to read and get things situated as I need them, and Il be starting right around the start of next month. That will give me about a month and a half before I have to adjust it to school schedule (August 18th is back to school… Too early. Though keep in mind we got of may 23rd this year)

It says I have to be in the same country as sender. What should I set the country as?

You have the same schedule as my own kid. And thankfully, Tactical Barbell is VERY flexible with a school schedule. I’d be glad to help with any questions you encounter upon reading through it. We have a few other folks familiar with it as well, to include @ChongLordUno @Hugo_Fillion and @BrandonCrawford

United States of America.

That’s what I’m set as, what state then?

Try Nebraska.

Now that I think about it, I probably just need to enter an address. I don’t have one set :man_facepalming:

Yep. I received the books. Thanks again!
