Zerchers are the Shiznit

I think you are good for it, you have the strength in you. My only suggestion is if you can widen your stance a little, and ‘open up the hips’ a bit more. I have been experimenting with this myself for hitting easier depth. It can be hard with the heavy weights on a walked out squat… but doable.

I plan on doing a lot of box squats on the 13’’ box. I’ll try to widen the stance and see if it helps.

Awesome squats eco. The depth will come. Just bending the knees with that much weight qualifies as awesome to me.[/quote]

Thanks LS. Glad to see you’re back.

That was a mighty awesome squat!

thanks Dan.

CGB bar,135x10,225x8,275x2,315x1,345x1,385x1,405x0
1.BB row 275 5x5
2.bench 275 5x5
1.rollin db tri ext 40s 3x10
2. str bar curl 95x10,5,5

I almost got 405. I may have got it with a lift off. I have to do like a 1/4 bench to get the bar off the bench stands.
I had a scary moment when I missed 405. I must have gained an inch or so around my chest over the last few months. The safety stands used to be perfect height where I could just crawl out with a missed lift. Today when I missed 405 I was pinned. I had to get the thicker collar on one side up on the stand and then I got out. But it hurt like hell.

That’s what happens when you get too sexy for your rack…

Good effort though, you’ll kill it next time I bet.

I’m still paranoid on that have been checking the safeties when I warm up with the bar.

And a 385# CGP! Damn my man - that’s good stuff!

that’s one hell of a strong close grip bench. i’ve never seen what i can do with a close grip. maybe we will throw it in next week.

Thanks guys.
Skid,apparently it may kill me.
Soldog,my safeties are solid but I’ve thickened up so much they’re now to low.
Meat, I find the CGB is really kind to my shoulders. Thats why I initially did a cycle. Then I figured my tris needed the work so I did a second cycle. I already predict you’ll be putting up 405 for reps.

how close do you consider a close grip bench?

Friggen strong benching. To eco (pun intended) Meats q, are you pointer finger on edge of knurling, or what grip?

Nice work Eco.

damn you big hosses are strong…

kmc

Thanks KMC.

I put my index fingers on the edge of the inside knurling. Any closer and it puts my wrists at a bad angle.

Damn dude, nice pressin’ and rowin’.

Eco, that is amazing. You’re CG benching my deadlift weight.

Thanks SteelyD and Dan.

This week is a deload/reload week. Feeling like I need a week break from heavy weights. Nothing above 50% max this week. I was thinking of doing BW workouts or flexibilty or GPP, not sure yet. Maybe mix them all together.

I need to start being more regular with my deloads. I am just horrible at taking it easy, and I think I would long term be better off with a regular ‘break’.

Dan John in a recent article talks about taking several weeks off. Not sure I could do that now. Maybe when I was younger and training wasn’t as important to me.

Screw. That.

Seriously though - Dan John has become an arguer for longevity in lifting, but it has to be remembered that he has already built an incredible base, had some major accomplishments and now has some windage to be able to do fuck-all for short periods.

Myself? I ain’t there yet. I have accomplished only one of my 4 modest goals and the clock is ticking.

7/28

5 rounds of a complex I made up:

bike 3 minutes
zercher squat 135x10,10,10,10,10
renegade row 60sx8,8,8,6,6
1,2,3 ladder 1 arm db clean+press+pullup 60 lb db
glute bridge 10,10,10,10,10

Rounds 4 and 5 found me on the floor a lot. I wanted to workout last night but a thunderstorm knocked the power out until 11 pm. I didn’t feel like lifting by lantern and it was pouring outside.
