Yury Belkin God of Sumo?

Agreed they are not quite the same plates, but close. I don’t think this makes the lift easier, where it’s easier off the floor it is more difficult to lock out due to whip. Just my opinion I have no idea what 900 on a deadlift bar feels like, I’m still on the climb to 700!

I can’t speak at all about weather it’s easier with different amounts of bar whip, all I know is what I’ve read from competitors like calier wollam who pretty much said the same thing as you. Easier off the floor, harder at lockout

I feel like the calibrated plates only became widespread in the last 4-5 years? As for lifting it’s far easier off the floor and with practice the whip won’t hurt you too much. I recently pulled 815 off a 1" block with 45s stacked out but missed 790 barely coming off the floor with calibrated plates

3rd overall and WR total with 4/9. Only Yuri. Apparently injured on his first squat attempt

He also explained what happened at the meet during this interview. Would appreciate if we have a Russian speaker in this thread though

Spread the word so Dmitry does more English sub videos

Thanks man. I reckon there’s a plenty of untapped content from the Russians. Only thing we need is a couple of dedicated translators

He’s been starting to training frequently again via his Instagram. Wondering when his next meet is.

I believe he is going to the US Open in a few months. That’s the next big international untested meet, and there’s cash on the table so you can count of Yury to show up and take some of it.

For sure. If memory serves me right. He won 3 consecutive US Open from 2017 to 2019. Apparently, he would be the biggest contender to win the meet again this year.

He’s the biggest contender to win any meet that isn’t all SHWs

The only one could rival him in wilks is John Haack, if he can get used to knee wraps
