YURY BELKIN (S:400kg / 881 lb, B:230kg / 507 lb, D:410kg / 904 lb. T: 1040kg New ATWR)
Time to dust off the thread with Boss of Bosses V. Dozens of elite lifters competing and more among the spectators including the likes of Sarychev.

While Belkin won overall and the big money at the Kern US Open 2018 in early May it wasn’t his best performance ever. Equipment and judging issues affected everyone on the day unfortunately. 3 months of prep and it’s into BOBV.
Competing in the 242 lb weight class
Squat
Solid squats today for Belkin. I get the feeling that depth was judged a little looser than at the US Open where Belkin was called for depth on his 380kg opener. Regardless all three squats were deep enough (for this fed at least) and moved cleanly at 365, 385 and 400kg (804, 849, 881 lb).

Might of had a bit more left in the tank but considering this is his biggest squat in recent history he is well on his way to putting together a winning total. Might’ve even been saving some energy for a big DL.
Bench
Belkin was unable to match his massive bench press of 240kg / 529lb bench press at the US Open this time around.
Opening with a solid 220kg / 485 lb Belkin then went for a second attempt of 230kg / 507 lb. Kirill Sarychev with the spot. Belkin was strong off the chest but hit a hard sticking point at mid point and barely grinded through it. Safe to say there was nothing left in the tank on the day.
Deadlift
By the time flight A was done with deadlifts the platform was pretty much soaked in urine which is always good fun. Belkin heads into deadlifts having already built 2/3rds of a monster total. Conservative pulls will be enough for him today and considering he won’t have the massive super cheaty WRPF bumper plates we won’t see anything too crazy.
Opening 385kg which is a bit conservative for the Russian. Bit of foot slip action (due to piss lel?) so he pops off the platform a minute to apply some secret grip techniques to his shoes. Comes back and pulls it like nothing.
410kg second moved easy to put 5kg on the ATWR total. With the record and win in the bag Belkin waives a third attempt. Bit disappointing for those who wanted to see a massive(r) deadlift but I’m sure it’s all part of the plan to set up an even more impressive meet in the future.

Seems Belkin is liking the 242 weight class. If he can fill out the weight class a bit better and make it work with his technique he’ll be putting up more WRs soon
