YouTube Vid Leads to Hollywood Contract

Amazing!

A producer from Uruguay who uploaded a short film to YouTube in November 2009 has been offered a $30m (£18.6m) contract to make a Hollywood film.

Wow good for him.

And here I was thinking that seeing the Slap Chop Remix used in an actual Slap Chop commercial was a big deal… lol.

That video is pretty amazing.

gimme an entire year and 100 times the amount of my money he used, and I couldn’t create a video half as good…damn

That was badass. I have no idea what that cost him to make but I’m sure it was a lot less than $30 mil. Whatever he does with this money I’ll go see it.

It was? HOLY FUCK

Wow! That is amazing…and on a budget of only $300! I’d love to see what he can come up with on his contract budget of $30,000,000! I love it when hobbyist inventors, film makers, and others like this are able to push the various industries with their minuscule budgets. Just look at other recent hobbyist films like “The Hunt for Gollum” and “Born of Hope”.

I shit you not. I caught it last night pulling an all-nighter for an 8AM final today.

This one? That’s funny!

Yup, that’s the one. The original upload has 7.5+ million views so I guess it makes sense to try to capitalize on it.

Genius!!

Pretty awesome short film, thanks for linking it here.

That was a pretty badass video, but if he could make that with only 300 dollars then what the fuck is the people from paranormal activities excuse? 11 grand for that piece of shit…

That video was sweet, funny part is thats the 2nd video to get someone a movie deal… The original vid for District 9 was a 4 minute independant vid that cost less then 3k and got them the money to make a full movie…

Sad part is this type of stuff is getting us the best / most original movies coming out now…

I agree that the short is amazing considering the budget, but I think the last thing that Hollywood needs right now is another Michael Bay. We don’t need more movies with nothing but special effects alone driving it. I hope that the only reason he relied so heavily on special effects was because it’s the only way to get noticed right now. With that said, I think he deserves the deal, because he should be able to make bank for the movie studios.

I dont understand that movie at all it doesnt even make sense. Why would the robots start shooting everything if they were just going to self destruct anyways? They were pretty well being left to their own devices, they could of just walked in and exploded. Shit they could have just put a bomb in a single plane and flew in landed, or dropped the bomb, and blew it up. Its not rocket surgery. Also, why would they even bother fukcing with Uruguay? They may as well attack bumfuck egypt or the middle of the ocean at that point. And another thing, it was pretty cool and good luck to that guy.

The OP’s video is rather amazing - especially on that budget. It reminds me of a Fan Fiction trailer I stumbled across a few years back. It also makes me wonder how many budding producers are out there.

Grayson

The “making of” clips are cool too.

And why walk when you have mastered interstellar/galactic travel?

I thought the video rocked.

He took themes from other movies however. The music is from that scene in 28 weeks later when he is running from the zombies, theme was very independence day/war of the worlds/district 9 ish. Still really fucking cool for $300
