Nice try but no cigar. Hitters are small and weak. That’s a fact.
Again, nice stories but they are only stories. Dorian never did hit to build up. It was volume. His twitter reply that i posted proved that. Right from the horses mouth. Mentzer was never that popular. I’ve stated all this in the debunking of the so called “controversy” 1980 olympia post that all of you have chosen to ignore. You know im right and i am. If you disagree, you’re wrong.
It isnt. Real world evidence always wins through. All the best bodies were built by volume. Hit has yet to prove itself but after 50 years there’s very little chance it ever will.
And that was a party political broadcast on behalf of the Russian Federation ![]()

OSB, you sure are frustrating. The title of this thread is “Your View on the 1980 Mr. Olympia?” And the OP asks Mr. Darden who he thought the top 3 should have been. And all you can focus on is HIT. I, myself, don’t care what you think about HIT. I don’t care what anyone thinks about HIT.
Clearly the OP asked about the 1980 Olympia because it is commonly known as having a controversial outcome. The Arnold victory over Sergio was another controversial outcome. THAT is all I care to talk to YOU about. You seem to think that the 1980 Olympia was not controversial and seem to think you have facts to back that up. That is absolutely bazaar!

Conversing with his lordship reminds me of this
Nice try, little fella. Your reference to the tweet fest in 2014 was about the first contest Yates was in, which was six months after he had begun training. He was 21 years old.
He had converted to HIT well before he hoisted his first Olympia.
Your reply is hardly a refutement of how HIT helped him become a champion.
Facts matter.
Mentzer was the first person with a perfect score of 300 in the 1978 Mister Universe.
As the title of the tread says “Your View on the 1980 Mr Olympia”
Would have I like to see him win? Hell yes.
Even 5th place is a no small feat in 1980 Mr. Olympia. Mike made peace with that in his later years. More so when Arnold called to help to his brother Ray.
Mike himself called Arnold the world greatest bodybuilder.
Not to mention, if indeed traditional methods where superior, why a quarter of a century after his retirement does he continue promote HIT lol. I believe he offers a HIT certification at his gym in Marbella.

I assume you are talking about the 1972 Mr. Olympia. I agree that Arnold’s win was controversial. The problem with that one is there is a lack of great footage. Not many pictures to compare and no video footage on the net that I am aware of.
CBS paid for the rights, and then sent a film crew that didn’t bring enough film? That sounds a lot more like a made up story, than the account that Boyer Coe gives.
As for a lack of statement by CBS: so what? Corporate types aren’t likely to publicize that they wasted time and money to acquire footage they couldn’t air. Why risk a lawsuit by making a public statement.
I agree. I trust Boyer’s account of what happened.
@OSB can you share a recent physique picture of yourself to show how well your volume training has worked?
Yes, the debate is over. Unanimous Decision that your forum name should be OCD, not OSB.
Majority Vote is that you are thoroughly out of touch with reality.
And there is an unproven theory that Mike Mentzer ran over your dog, when you were a small child.
Whew — Glad we got all that cleared up!!
Good to see OSB has moved on from trolling on YouTube and has decided to entertain us here .
Looking forward to seeing more “facts” from the pioneer of MDS (Mentzer Derangement Syndrome). ![]()
Question is what OSB has been up to for the past 3 days? I would love to hear his opinions on the controversy re the 1981 Olympia. But wait - Neither Mentzer or HIT were involved. There must be something we can do to fix this…
Or maybe they realized like most of us that follow bodybuilding that the contests are terribly boring to watch.
I agree the night show is very boring. But the prejudging is the “contest”, especially the comparisons. IMO, there is nothing boring about the comparisons
Been to the arnold classic a few times and last years olympia…was not boring to me
