Your View on the 1980 Mr. Olympia?

Try refuting the facts.

I’ve spent hours of my life I’ll never get back, Debating the Debacle with smarter people than you. It did about as much good as clenching your ass cheeks together in the Penn State locker room. I know what I know and you think you know what you know. Neither will change the other’s mind. Report back to the other TNBs that you hit a dead end!!

Gentlemen, do not bother to argue with that Internet troll OSB. I think he is also known by the name Old Skool Bodybuilding Routines on YT with Arnold’s side chest press picture as his avatar. I don’t suffer fools gladly.

Some of the filming from the 1980 Olympia is available through YouTube for anyone to see. Having watched it I can honestly agree with the opinion that Arnold shouldn’t have won. Why? Well he had the weakest legs of all competitors, to begin with.

A new poster with trollish opinions is never to be taken seriously.

No opinion but facts. Arnolds legs were no worse than any of the other competitors. Now, try refuting the facts i’ve presented. I’ll wait.

The only fact that matters is Weider, the judges and arnold were corrupt…and you can see that in some of the other Mr. Olympia competitions thru-out the years…especially the 81 and 82 olympia

Why bother? It’s a subjective sport with lots of appearant bias depending on your preferences. Is this matter even important more than 40 years later? No. Interesting? Yes, a LITTLE.

I will not add anything more to this thread. Better shift focus to what I am planning to do at the gym - reality check.

When someone confuses their Opinions with Facts, we call that Delusional!!
Arnold’s thighs were shit. But, his calves were great — in fact, from the front, they were as wide as his quads!!!

A new poster here, but not on T-Nation!! Their hateful bias towards Mentzer — even sometimes from the named contributors — is cringeworthy.

I just love all the passion. The love this guy, hate that guy, reminds me of NASCAR fans. They are all fairly equal in talent, yet some are loved and some are hated. Passion, passion, passion.

Bottom line: That was 42 years ago. I was casually interested, especially because the IFBB still judged by the points system, and I just tested and earned an NPC National Judge card, where the NPC had seen the flaws in the points system and had gone with ranking the competitors first through last at least a year earlier.

Sure the points system determined a winner, and the points are totaled to rank all the competitors first through last. Look closely at the score sheet posted by rikus.

Tell me that crap isn’t just that, crap.

Ask me who should have won. I wasn’t there (where the judges sat, and that is important) , so I don’t know how I would have placed them. But I sure don’t see where some of you guys generate the passion to be so opiniated.

Looks like the Belgian judge was sitting in a good place!

Again, I’ve debunked that. Try again.

So that’s a no. Facts always truimphs.

It proves that there was no fix. It was tight amongst the top 3. Arnold won but barely.

You still haven’t refuted my statement. Just skimming around it. There was no conspiracy nor was Arnold’s thighs were any worse than the other competitors. Very weak answers you are coming out with.

Horse feathers. What I stated didn’t “prove” anything. There was no proof of anything in my post. It was just my opinion.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

An opinion should be based on evidence not emotions.

Yes, it is funny how mentzer fans bought into mentzer’s delusions.

Let it go dude. He’s dead and gone. The world of bodybuilding and training have moved on too. Sure there are still people that follow his exact programs, but that’s their prerogative. Why do you even care so much?
