The guys I know at my gym love it and wish more women would squat and deadlift. I have no idea what the guys I don’t know think. I video a lot of my lifts for form checks and it’s always funny seeing people in the background staring.
The best though, was a few weeks ago. I had a woman march over to me while I was warming up. In my head I was waiting for her to say something retarded. In reality she said she couldn’t believe how much weight I was squatting. Then she went on to tell me I had a great ass. It is so high, round and hard. It was the closest I’ve ever come to making out with another woman. True story.

Ok this may not be the right place to ask this cuz I’m sure you guy are a little biased but anyway…
When you see girls lifting heavy at the gym do you think “hey that’s pretty cool” or “what does she think she’s doing?”. I have been getting some pretty strange looks lately; especially when dead lifting. I KNOW I’m the only girl in the gym to do them, and I think the only guys who do them are the body builders and power lifters (and there are only like 3). S
quatting seems to be a rare occurrence around there too. I’ve only ever got one compliment on lifting heavy (well besides from my trainer) and he was some creepy perv that was doing squats on the Smith Machine!
So lately I’ve been curious as to what most guys think. I could care less if they have a problem with it…I’m still gonna do it! Just curious!
They should lift heavy. Women may be the “weaker” sex but they shouldn’t be weak. My wife lifts heavy and it is nice to know she has the strength to beat the hell out of many of the men out there today.

Shouldn’t the same hold true for a guy then? JLu, are you an elite level powerlifter or olympian? If not you’re not lifting heavy and saying you do is an oxymoron.
That’s some of the most ridiculous shit I’ve heard in a while.
it’s cool to a point.
that point? when she’s nearly as much as me or more.
like I could not train at a gym with that she-man Becka Swanson, just too demoralizing.
I am lucky enough to be one of the women that learned lifting heavy WILL slim you down and harden you up! I’m trying to spread the word to anyone who will listen!
Thank you. This message is a life mission of mine.

No kidding, what kind of logic is that? I don’t even understand that second sentence. When do you make the definition between a girl lifting heavy and not doing so? I’m curious as to the specifics that go into this judgment call.
I think he means that most women can’t lift as heavy as men can. To a point that’s true (why else do male and female powerlifters compete separately?) but I think it makes more sense to say that a woman training with a barbell, as heavy as she can, is lifting “heavy.” When I deadlift I’m doing the same thing as you are, at the limits of my capacity at the moment. You may as well say that a small man can’t lift heavy because he can’t lift as much as a bigger man.
I mean when will girls realize that going to the gym and lifting heavy really attracts guys. Ok maybe they don’t want that but women who lift are 10x hotter then any average woman, at least she has motivation to do it.
My girlfriend lifts, she does squats, deadlifts, the works… sometimes we work out together and I get the questions. Really what the hell, ask her yourself.

You look like a dude? Hmmmmm. Nope, I’m in total lust over you.
Women lifting serious weights always gets my respect in the gym. I find a lot of women stick to crossfit style workouts (which is totally up to them, of course) but when I see a woman doing squats or DLs with some substantial weight I can’t help but smile. Nice to see working muscle under the curves.
You don’t get to that weight & lift it without some pain, sacrifice, & some time under/over the bar.
Best examples I can recall is from 2 YMCAs I used to go to - one girl was doing about 185 lb BB squats & she was barely over 100 lbs, 5’2 & the 2nd girl was doing BB bench press 135lbs & she looked like she weighed 135 lbs.
The only time I ever see women in my gym doing anything remotely related to a deadlift, it’s always a stiff legged deadlift. I wonder if the trainers do that on purpose. It’s only the better looking chicks that get those exercises. The less in shape ladies get to do swiss ball squats. lol

I wish more women in general would just LIFT.

Maybe it’s because I only ever train in commercial gyms, but I have to disagree with this.
Girls lifting heavy(as already explained, ‘heavy’ is relative) on deads or squats is sexy to guys who actually squat and deadlift properly themselves.
I’ve never seen ANYBODY squat and I’ve only ever seen one(massive) guy deadlift at my new gym, all the rest are busy curling and military pressing and benching on the smith-machine. These guys could easily be out-squatted by any woman who decides to squat.
My point is, most guys at gyms don’t really liftf heavy, and so that women who do lift heavy would probably threaten their manliness.
I for one think that women even going near the olympic bars(rarity that it is) is cool, I just don’t think that most guys do

I have to agree 100% right here. I don’t get the cardio craze when women who lift just look so much better. At least 10x!
My friends give me shit for this, but I’ve passed on thin girls because I was afraid I might hurt them. If I should be so lucky as to see a woman with muscular arms stroll by, you’d better believe I’d be on that like bark on a tree. And if we went to dinner and talked nutrition . . . . . .lordy, I’d propose on the spot.
Actually, as I think about it, lifting is such a significant part of my life that I doubt I could ever end up with a woman who did not share my passion for it in some degree.
For instance, I would wreck this woman if I had half a chance. No doubt.
