David Lee Roth’s Band in the mid-late 80’s.

Rhythm guitar: Alex laiho (children of bodom)

Lead guitar: Dime bag (Pantera)

Singer: Bruce Dickinson( Iron maiden)

Some good choices but do people really think Lars and Tommy Lee are actually great drummers LOL!!!

John Bohnam, Bill Ward and Keith Moon is more like it!

Don’t get me started on that prat from Disterbed! But Bruce is def the ticket

Ted Nugent on guitar
Marco Minneman on drums
Tony Martin on vocals (Best Sabbath singer IMO)
John Myung on bass
John Lord on keyboards

To be honest, I prefer all these guys in their respective bands, but would be interested in hearing them play together.

Last year, on VH1, they did a reality show called “Supergroup”. It had Sebastion Bach (Skid Row) for vocals, Ted Nugent on guitar, Scott Ian (Anthrax) on guitar, Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard) on bass and Jason Bonham (Foreigner) on drums. They later renamed their band “Damnocracy”. It was about a six week series and showed the band as they started out until their performance in Vegas. It was a good show. I’m hoping they run it again this year with new members.

Bogey

Vocals - Glenn Hughes
Guitar - Zakk Wylde
Bass - Nikki Sixx
Drums - Lars Ulrich

Lots of other great choices, but this is the first that came to mind…

Lars Ulrich is a damn fine drummer. Yes he suffers by comparison to the likes of Dave Lombardo but he is still a great drummer.

My selection:

Guitar: Dime
Guitar: Zakk Wylde
Guitar: Kirk Hammett
Drums : Joey Jordison
Bass : Tom Araya
Vocals: Angela Gossow

(yes I have 3 guitars, if Iron Maiden can do it so can I!!)

Also sorry to minor hijack, but can we make it a rule that you can only pick one person from each band??

Anybody heard of The Who?, in particular when Keith Moon was still playing drums. I know it`s kinda old school, but those guys kicked major ass.

That’s the great thing about rock music. You don’t have to be particularly “talented”. Tommy Lee is probably the best showman behind the drum kit. He plays well enough for any group, but it’s his stage presence that sets him apart. I gonna put Sebastian Bach as my backup singer behind Dio.

Good rule. Also, no more than 3 total guitarists (Spinal Tap had 2 bassists on “Big Bottom”). Exception to this rule is that the singer can play also(think Paul Stanley and Ted Nugent).

Lead Vocals- Ozzy Osbourne
Vocals- Henry Rollins
Guitar- Angus Young (AC/DC)
Guitar- Swiskgar… uh the Lead Guitarist from Dethklok
Bass- Les Claypool
Synth- Edgar Winter
Drums- Neil Peart (Rush)

Rythm Guitar- Doc Coyle (God Forbid)
Lead Guitar- Steve Smyth (Nevermore)
Drummer- Pierre Langlois (Black Dahlia Murder)
Bass- Dave Ellefson (Megadeth)
Vocals- Nicholas Brooks (It Dies Today)

Howard Jones from Killswitch is a pretty amazing vocalist. I’d have to go with him.

For the sake of argument, should we limit it to people who are living?

My second lineup, IF I were not allowed to include any of the people from my first linup, would be (assuming only living people:

Slash: guitar
Flea: bass
Scott Weiland: lead vocals
Alex Van Halen: drums

I just think that would be a REALLY interesting combo. Some pretty different styles mized in there.

Vox - Gwen Stefani
Lead Guitar - Slash (G ‘n’ R)
Rhythm Guitar - Steve Albini (Shellac)
Bass - Squarepusher
Drums - Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt)

I have no idea what the fuck the result of this monstrous amalgam would be, but I have a feeling it’d be pretty damn interesting.

Vox was the hardest to choose because it would be the limiting factor on the band. I’ve been listening to ‘The Tragic Kingdom’ recently and decided on Gwen Stefani because her voice is awesome. Also, I think that a good rock and roll band needs sex appeal, something kind of lacking from the other members.

If I could I’d go for a revolving line-up, like ‘Faith No More’ back in the old days.

Hell, Mike Patton should be near the top of most people’s lists.

Vocals - Rod Evans (Deep Purple)
Guitar - Jimmy Page
Guitar - Clap (ton, Eric - but I’d tell him not to play any adult contemporary bullsh*t)
Bass - Flea
Drums - Neil Peart (Rush, as if you needed to be told

Dammit, I didn’t see that you beat me to the Peart
