Your Longest Run? Bike? Swim? March?

100 mile “run.” More of a walk/limp/shamble for a lot of it. In the Shenandoah’s in VA. 27:20. [/quote]

Am I the only one that caught this? 100 miles in 27 hours? Not terribly fast, but I don’t think I could do ANYTHING for 27 hours straight without losing my senses.

Bike: 100 miles.
Run: less than 2 miles
swim: never tried for distance.

I never ran more than 2 miles (shin splints) and can’t swim.

Longest bike was about 45 miles. It was after a steep 8 mile hike.

Longest hike was about 17 miles. Lots of ups and downs. I’ve done a bunch of 3 day backpacks in the 40-50 mile ranges with a lot of elevation gain/drop with a 40 lb pack on average.

Steepest hike was from the Colorado river up to the south rim of the grand canyon. That was an ass kicker.

All this was done in my pre-weightlifing days. Not really impressive.

That is crazy. I’ve always been impressed by trailrunners. The guy in this link did 350 miles straight. 3 days/nights of running.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this is one area where I shine. I’m a newby on the forum.

Longest runs- 105 mi. with 9,000 ft of climb (28:49) 102 mi with 19,000’ of climb (Massanutten 100, trail and boulder field, 31:47)
Longest cycle-150 mi ~18-20,000’ of climb

Endurance comes easy for me, speed not so much.

December 24th 2011 18.8 mile run from my in-laws in Trenton Ga to my parents in Bryant Al for a morning run before Christmas Dinner took just under 2 and a half hours.

May 9th 2012 40 mile Death March with a 45lbs ruck sack in Boots and full ACU 9 hours 29 mins/ 14:15 mile pace… Couldn’t walk right for almost 4 days from the ungodly blisters and swollen feet.

Not counting army maching, Half Marathon.
I ran it with a hottie-friend and the running was at a pleasant pace something under 2 hours.
Still, the experience snuffed out any an all hopes that my knees could handle long distance running.
So 5/10 km is my benchmark for the end of a short running cycle.

Swimming, biking: no idea

edit: seems like the Nation of T has some serious endurance baddasses around

Have no idea the longest I’ve ever ran/biked/swam, but did a mud run two Saturday’s ago and had a blast. Currently nursing a slight tear in my left meniscus, but surprisingly distance (for me) running doesn’t hurt too much provided I brace up and pay attention. We’re planning on doing another in a month or so.

“Jogged” 22 miles for a charity event. I cannot run for shit. Once walked almost 4 days and nights straight in the mountains of “Stan”, wore me out and like Reed, left me basically crippled for about a week with damaged feet. Got smart after that and bought my own boots.

When i was 20, 21 YO i did the 2 first Montréal marathons about 4 H 10 with allmost no training. Yup the first gave me a swollen ankle. The second year they offered the half but i missed the half sign and i never went back so i did a second. A few years later i was hiking/Xcountry skiing each week end and in trails i enjoyed jogging with a small day pack about 11 pounds or a weekend pack about 40 pounds and occasionaly a canoe of 80 pounds and i was 125 pounds. Jogging up and down mountains is great memories.
I was patrolling Xcountry during the day, downhill ski patrolling in the evening than dancing.
Ha good memories !
Try that you will be lean.

I did a 30 miler once (running). It was the week I had to send that letter telling the marines I wanted to go to university instead. I was peeved. So I decided to do the thirty miler just to prove I could do it.
I did it in roughly seven and a half hours, wearing a rucksack that weighed about 2 and a half stone.

Longest bike ride was the trip down to New Quay to go to the beach. It lasted 15 miles approx. both ways

swim? Oh, I dunno. Probably down at newport pembs, but I’ve no idea actually how long it was except that it lasted about an hour.

Longest run was 15 back in the 90’s

I starting to run more this year to lose weight.

Maybe to save your knees you might consider alterning with cycling and or swimming.
The last 8 weeks i lost 8 pounds with a recumbant bike.
All the best !

I run in a park near my house on crushed gravel and dirt paths.

I quit running on the roads because of my knees.

I like to lose about 20 pounds and have been running on days I don’t lift.

I had looked at your profile and i figured you would understand the overuse potential. The soft surface is a smart approach. I liked jogging but i think hard surface plus Xtra weight is not an ideal combination.
Just like many years ago i was swimming 40 pool lenghts a few times weekly mixing 5 styles to avoid freestyle allways turning my neck the same side.
