Your Best Sets/Reps Range for Squats?

Ethan, you lie all the time. No-one cares what you say you lift.

Because I have asthma and my lung capacity is at 35% of normal, I really like squatting low reps for many sets with little time off, although I never do it because it leaves me cripled for 4 days at least.

I did 10x10 squats with 225 every Monday and Friday for what seemed like months on end. Probably 4. I did nothing else. It was hard at first, but after a few months I would wait like 45 between sets and just hammer it out. Sitting down, getting up, the toilet…the pain was like nothing I’ve every experienced! My legs and glutes got big and thick and have stayed that way with little work.

Is that a new article coming or a new book title, “Sitting down, getting up, the toilet…” ?

Yeah, I wrote it, but couldn’t get it published legit.

Mearly anything seems to work for my Quads. Squats done with the 20 rep breathing seems to work best but can only do it when theres a spotter with me. Its also very mentally tough. I only have to do one or two sets of that and I get good gains. Most of the time I don’t have a spotter though so I do 5 sets of 6-8 reps, then do 3 sets of 20 on leg press. Works just as well.

Why is this for squats only

For leg hypertrophy my reps are from 5 to 75

srs

my quads only seem to grow if I get a savage lactic acid burn in them

i wish I could pinpoint the right rep scheme for hypertrophy for squats, I mix it up every few weeks. The higher reps seems to work nicely but is it the pump? When squatting i don’t go below 3 reps because of saftey reasons since I go well below pararell.

So for me anywhere from 4-20 reps and again, i mix them up every few weeks, and i don’t think I can identify what is the best rep range for me since i have both slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibers.

But it’s been working for me so far and I even throw in some pylometrics from time to time. i was not born with the best genes so i have to work harder to train the legs.

Walter Payton, who was known for his thunderous legs use to do hill sprints in the offseason to build and conditioned the legs. Tom Platz did some ridiculous amount of high reps for legs. So when it comes to hypertrophy there’s many ways to skin a cat.
