I’m still out on boxing, but…

MMA:

bantam - Urijah
feather - Aldo
light - Penn
welter - GSP (start hurting people again Georges!)
middle - Anderson
light heavy - Hendo
heavy - Fedor

Too soon man, too soon…

Should have noticed this thread was made just today, what a dork this guy is.
Really, besides hasn’t he noticed that Fedor has been LOSING lately. People in the “world” are saying two things…#1. he was fed easy opponents in Japan and #2. he has stopped training and has left his fate to God…even his corner has complained that he spent too much time in the church and not enough time in the gym when preparing to fight Dan Henderson

Each weight division??? How about by biggest cock.
#1 Christine Cyborg
I’m sorry, I ate a lot of carbs today…not myself.

MMA

1 - Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko
2 - Igor Vovchanchyn
3 - Genki Sudo
4 - Kawajiri Tatsuya
5 - Lyoto Machida

Favorite MMA fighters
Megumi Fuji - at 125, she’s such a cute little thing, 36 years old and has only lost one fight after 30 wins (her opponent was greased, I swear)
GSP - just classy and so technical
Forrest Griffin - scrappy as all hell and a riot too
Clay Guida - just loves to fight and is in such great shape
Tim Silvia - only because he wears his championship belt to the grocery store (yes, I know it was a long time ago since he was in the UFC, never mind the heavy weight champ, but back in the day…) and what about the epic fracture that he wanted to argue didn’t happen so he could keep on fighting despite the fact that his arm looked like a bag full of jello
Because when you limit your sport you get such standouts as Mayweather, Whittaker, Ray Robinson, Pacman, Ali, Hagler… or Remy Bonjasky, Hoost, Badr, Hug…

You’re not seeing hands (or feet) like the above in MMA unless we’re talking the top 2-3 fighters in a division.

@OP: sorry for the detour.

Now that’s a list I can get behind.

Haha, if it got more action, there would be a lot less reason and knowledge floating around in it…
AGREE…I like to think the people in this forum are actually COMBAT ATHLETES or people who train/work/have a life, and are too busy to check in every hour.

Ahha, that would be why it is so constructive. It is a rare pleasure to come across a combat forum where people have had fights outside of World of Warcraft.

Boxing

  1. Pre-Don King Mike Tyson
    2.Pre-Antonio Tarver Roy Jones jr
    3.Rocky Marciano
    4.Joe Louis
5Probably gonna have to go with Terry Norris. My pop took me to see the Whitaker/JCC fight in San Antonio and Norris was on the undercard fighting some guy named Gatti [not that one] and knocked him clear through the ropes. That left quite an impression on a 10 year old me. Since then he was one of my favorite fighters to watch.

MMA

  1. Mirko Cro Cop. Watching him get Cro Copped by Gonzaga gave me the same uneasy feeling that watching JR getting knocked out by Tarver did. And that’s not an exaggeration. I actually felt ill.
    2.Rampage
    3.Shane Carwin
  2. Anderson Silva
  3. Vitor Belfort

Damn It! I wanted to beat Irish to this thread so I could petition everyone to change their answers to:

1.)Manny Pacquiao
2.-5. Anyone trained by Freddy Roach.

Shit.

Yup, sentimental favorites always dominate these lists for me.

1.)Watching Tyson win his first belt was the fight that got me into really watching boxing and I watched it with my father, so he has a very real shot at number 1 with me. Course watching your first sports hero go to jail for rape is something as well so I was rooting for Lewis when they fought.

2.) Jack Dempsey, the second one. Not the nonpareil, though he was supposed to be great. Mostly because I think his book is an absolute treasure for anyone who may need to throw a punch, so…everyone.

3.-6) No order, Marciano, Archie Moore, Ray Robinson, Joe Louis.

  1. Hopkins. I went all the way to 7 just so I could have someone who is still fighting on the list.

MMA

Fedor, Big Nog, Machida, GSP, Royce or Rickson Gracie just because they opened my eyes. No order.

Real list.
Only 3.

Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson, Rashad Evans because they all beat Michael Bisbing. Hamill should be on the list but it is how Bisbing acted after he got the judge’s gift against Hamill that started my completely irrational dislike of Bisbing. I am sure he is loved by his family and is a hale fellow and well met by all, but I really root against him. When he wins, which he usually does because he is a damn good fighter who trains hard, I can’t wait for him to turn 40 so I can start rooting against him in his prostate screenings. Not that I wish him cancer mind you. But a little BPH, yeah. I am fine with him having to straddle life between urinary urgency and difficulty voiding.

Robert A

It’s not limiting your tools, it’s a completely different game.

By that logic MMA fighters are limiting their tools because they are not groin punching each other or biting.

You wouldn’t say that to her face.

Honestly though, Chris Cyborg is easily #1 for female MMA. There is tape of her picking up Tito Ortiz while in his guard when they were rolling at Cleber Luciano’s school.

in female MMA nobody beats Rin Nakai and Gina Carano in terms of beauty.

i bet Chris Cyborg could run-through the UFC LW division, she would be the biggest challenger to Frankie Edgar or Jose Aldo.

I always assumed they were related.

Boxing (don’t follow it religiously like some other posters here :p):

Roy Jones Junior: loved to see him go at it, slipping away from his opponents and his great handspeed…
Ali: Does not really need to be explained
Tyson: loved his agression, sorry he went down a crappy road
Foreman and Pacquiao are also on the list, Manny also for what he sometimes does outside the boxing ring.

MMA:

Fedor Emilianenko: GOAT in my book, put MMA on the map for me
Crocop: his sprawl and brawl style was beautiful to see, his fight with Emilianenko was epic!
Igor Vovchanchyn: Brutal fighter, killer mentality
Kazushi Sakuraba: Gracie hunter, mentality inside and outside the ring
Gracie Family: They brought BJJ to the table and sparked the beginning of MMA for me (at least to some degree)

Ill play along

Boxing- am a fan - but don’t mention it much I find it super shady now.
so some of my choices are dated.

I like Roy Jones Jr.
I like Bearnard Hopkins too.
Loved watching Pernel Whitaker
I actualyl liked De La Hoya -for a long time.
and how has no one mentioned
Ali- love me some classic 70’s prime Muhamed Ali

MMA in no order.

Kasushi Sakuraba
Hayato Mach Sakurai ( or insert ) Ghenki Sudo
Dan Henderson
BJ Penn
Fedor Emelianko

kind of a silly list- but that is who I like
I think BJ Fedor and Sakuraba could be the GOAT
but lots of bad choices haunt them all

hahahah, numbers 2-5 are Amir Khan, #6 is Prince Naseem, I’d just have a stroke.

Oh yes, I didn’t do most hated - well, it’s undoubtedly pretty much anyone trained by Freddie Roach.

I can’t believe all the hate for SRL. Dude was AWESOME, and the only one that beat each of the other Four Kings back then.

Although I do kinda hate him for the Duran thing. Duran’s my boy.
