You Know You're Serious When...

No, that happens to a lot of people.

(falls)

You know you’re serious when you’ve put on a shitload of muscle and can move a ton of weight.

These “you know you’re serious/dedicated/hardcore when…” threads always feel like a bunch of 180 lbs guys with 16-inch “gunz” trying to be part of “the club” by talking about the tuna and egg white content of their diets.

Sorry to be the asshole on this thread…actually no I’m not.

Jackass…no wait,

you don’t have to be massive and strong to be dedicated, maybe you’re new.

I’ve had the same feeling since page 1.

I was going to jump in with “you know you’re serious when you don’t have to talk about it online…because you wear it on your arms, chest, back, and legs every single day.”

But I figured I’d wait for someone else to be the douche ;).

edit: I know a lot of the people on this thread are serious lifters (no offense to you guys), but I still chuckle when I read shit like this.

when you come into a thread to tell everyone in the thread that they arent seious because theyre posting in a thread about being serious

When you girlfriends parents tell you after 18months of dating her that they’ve never seen you so happy as when they took you to a Brazilian steakhouse last friday.

And when they are surprised you easily ate over 3pounds of primarily red meat. And when you quit eating meat because everyone else is finished and just kind of observing/in awe of you. I regret that I stopped now. I wasn’t finished.

I really just wanted to share how awesome brazilian steakhouses are…

all you can eat meat served constantly.

Perfect.

Indeed. The “Bodybuilding” forum of a bodybuilding site no less.

Of course I didn’t mean to generalize with the 180lbs crack. There are some very serious 180lbs lifters on this site that are shorter or are at a ridiculously low bodyfat in order to compete, but I figured anyone that could legitimately be offended by that is over in T-Cell Alpha anyway.

Well, I guess I mean people that are trying to lose a lot of weight, or some of the people that were in the physique clinic. They don’t necessarily have a shitload of muscle, or can move a ton of weight, but I’d say they are dedicated.

hhmmmmm I see what you are saying but I dunno if I agree.

Some folks show interest for their special projects, “I wanna lose 40lbs”, “I want a 6-pack.” If they keep their focus long enough to achieve the goals of that special project does that mean they are dedicated?

This site is to build muscle, gain size, get strong and learn a healthy, physical lifestyle.

There are very serious lifters in this thread, and my guess is that they aren’t offended because they know the score. I think we all know a few “hardcore warriors” that are more interested in being “part of the club” than in actual bodybuilding. You know the guy that pulls out a can of tuna or some strange concoction in a shaker bottle and makes a point of waving it around so everyone can see how “hardcore” he is about his diet. Usually those guys, as X would put it, look like they never stepped foot in a gym. This thread just reminds me of those guys. I mean you literally had a post that said you know you’re serious when you eat a can of tuna, something that anyone can do at anytime.

You know you’re serious when…

…you regognize at minute 20:41 of your morning cardio that you - GASP! - forgot to take your 12 g of whey protein in order to prevent muscle being used as fuel.

HARDCORE.

You get off the stationary bike, munch on your precious 12 g of whey, laugh at yourself and snap the “I’M SO HARDCORE! YOU’RE MY BITCH!” badge onto your pecs. Right through them, with a safety pin. Then you mount the bike, again. That’s not the only thing you’re going to mount, though.

HARDCORE.

Then you take hold of a willing mate, romp away while gurgling “HARDCORE!”, all the while beating your chest.

What a load of crap. But it’s funny.
Then you take a shower, put on an XL tee and notice that it’s tight.

With your holy hardcore attitude done for the day, you do your best to forget everything mentioned above. Just another day.

… when you hear about “the surge” on the news and you think of Biotest Surge and not the war.

I see what you mean octobergirl, and I do mostly agree, but I still people in the process of losing tons of weight or want a 6-pack are dedicated. Bartl I’ll use as an example, I don’t like the word hardcore, but I’d say he’s serious/dedicated about working out. Now in long the run he may amount to that person with slabs of muscle and moving tons of weight, maybe he’s pretty close to it now.

I completely agree about what you said this site is about.

Wow… you are probably the biggest and most jacked person to post on this thread… to be honest i would really like to know the tuna/egg white portion of your diet so i can be as ripped and huge as you are so i can move “a ton” of weight and join this “club”

douche-bag

I do believe some of these people, such as the guy above me, have missed the boat.

There do seem to be those guys out there. The boat missers I mean.

You know you are serious:

-When you stop confusing simple with easy and give yourself a big mental bitch slap by rationalizing poor performance.

-When your girlfriend giggles & claps every time you say “work-out” and groans when you say “train.”

-When personal trainers with double-digit body fat and a bosul ball walk away from the power rack when you start warming up.

-When someone asks where they can learn more about strength training and you can reference authors/articles that have helped you learn sometime that makes you better every day.

Looks like that struck a nerve. Checked out your stats and your previous post in this thread and I can see why. You’re that 6’0, 160lbs guy that goes out to dinner and waves around his “ziploc bag of pills” to show everyone how “hardcore” you are, since they wouldn’t have otherwise known by looking at you. So HARDCORE! that you “add 5 minutes of cardio” for every beer you drink, eh? I can’t top that one. It’s especially ironic given:
unitas03:
when you judge people by what they put into their body and how they train… because everyone else is doing it wrong
You have some nerve to try and judge anyone. Here’s some free advice: Start eating food and lifting weights. After a few years you won’t have to chew everyone’s ear off about their “poor nutrient timing” because you’ll start to look like you work out. Until then try not to wet your panties every time someone hits a little too close to home with their comments, you’re blowing you cover. Pussy.
