I read today that the the guards in Gitmo must handle the Qur’an wearing gloves. And they do.
The inmates “will not let them” touch the book without gloves because they are unclean infidels.
The guards actually put up with this shit and buy into the whole charade in an effort to not offend them. Since they are Marine guards I imagine they would handle the situation differently if it was up to them.
No we are not very good facists.

I’m pretty sure the Marines gaurding those prisoners would treat them tactfully regardless.

You freakin pro Americans who want to cover up for the Bush war crimes forget one important fact:
The American troops actually turned off the air conditioning on their terroist prisoners!
Yea…it’s not so funny anymore is it?
Oh…
My…
Gosh…
I’m so ashamed. Where has our great country gone that we are now turning off AIR CONDITIONERS on our prisoners? I weep for the future.
Let me find a Cambodian or Russian or German government official so I can tender my deepest apologies for American atrocities.
Turning off the air conditioner is DIRECTLY analagous to injecting gasoline into the eyeballs of prisoners, shooting women and children for fun, murdering villages, tying people together with barbed wire and then making one shoot himself so the bullet would exit his head and hit another, machine gunning families, putting people into poison gas showers, inserting political opponents into ovens feet-first, starving beating electrocuting stabbing hanging prisoners, working them to death, peeling off their fingernails, burying them alive, killing one out of every ten people at random to keep the rest in fear, piling people into box cars to the point where they suffocate to death, hacking off limbs, raping wives and daughters in front of their menfolk, etc. After all, dick durbin says that turning off the air conditioner is reminiscent of this kind of behavior.
Fortunately I keep a stack of George W. Bush strawmen handy so that I can burn him in effigy at least once a day.
Others were worse then us, so please, you can’t complain. Americans. sheesh.
Sure i agree with you on air conditioning, the quran, etc… but the fact that places like guantanamo exist is the problem. Thats its outside the geneva convention. Those people you mentioned were the REASONS such codes of conduct were created. So that such things wont happen again. Wait to some nation thinks your agents aint “real soldiers” and are “enemy combatants” then everyone will bitch, cry and whinge “We wouldnt ever behave like that”. Its one rule for you, another for them.
I said it before and I’ll say it again…to these demented 14th century minded assholes, giving them a koran is like giving captured SS soldiers Mein Kampf. It’s ridiculous.
yes indeed hippie beatnik, others are worse than the yanks.
so piss off, and spend time trolling boards dedicated to a myriad of real abuses:
cubans, russiansd (a bunch of prisoners slit their wrists due to mistreatment - where o where is the media outcry), the sudan, zimbabwe, china, tibet and nepal, turkey, etc.
i look forward to your report, castigating all for their real, and not “perceived” abuses.

I do believe that the Geneva Convention covers the UNIFORMED SERVICEMEN of the COUNTRIES that attended and signed the treaties. Al Qaeda wasn’t a signatory…
These detainees (read POWs) are being treated within the same guidelines of the convention, although we do not expect, nor do we receive, the same considerations from our enemies.
and then
Beatnik wrote: Wait to some nation thinks your agents aint “real soldiers” and are “enemy combatants” then everyone will bitch, cry and whinge “We wouldnt ever behave like that”. Its one rule for you, another for them.
We don’t have to wait. Taliban/Al Qaeda/terrorists treat our servicemen like a Thanksgiving turkey.
It absolutely is one rule for us and a different rule for others… we treat prisoners/detainees with some amount of respect. They torture and kill ours.
I looked on images under yahoo and the link had been removed.
Bonus for you: If you got it off of one of the “Bush lied, the Pope died” sites, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that I will be on that site (long enough to look for that picture).
