Strong work MattyXL. Remember a bigger belly equals a bigger bench.
I’m sorry you’re a Jets fan. Pats are gonna win the superbowl this year. Please don’t tell me you’re a Yankees fan as well. Sox and Yankees have 3 games in Boston this weekend.[/quote]
I didn’t know I had relatives in New Hampshire! Go Sox!
Today was an exercise in futility…horrid. I had planned to max out on DLing today but I couldnt even get my previous 1RM up (455) very dissapointed. My confidence in my DL changes like I change my underwear which is once a week. Meh…heres how it went…
DL 315/3 365/1 405/425/1 455/0 315/6
UR ROW 135/10 155/10 185/5 135/16
TBAR ROW 2PPS/15 3PPS/15 4PPS/7 5PPS/3
MEADOWS ROW 2PPS/12,12
CS DB ROW 80/15 100/8,8
GOBLET SQUATS 0/10 50/10,10
BAND OH TRI EXT 3X12
BAND PUSHDOWNS 3X12
Notes: just not into it over the past week, maybe with all the changes to my schedule my body needs to adjust…every day cant be a sale day.
The DL is funny, it seems like it should be so simple, but I have found just about anything can throw me off huge… flexibility, sleep, recent training, or even just forgetting simple queues. One dude I train with has pulled 840. He will have these horrible days where he can’t break 600 off the floor.
x2 Pete, I believe I was done from the get go I was trying too remember to much, and was actually waiting for this max out day for a couple of weeks and when the time came, I already starting thinking of excuses…I think the adage of grip and rip is alot more beneficial for me.
Im happy you brought up that example it makes me feel better lol.

Makes me feel better too. Matty, I’m not going to give you a hard time about the DL. Mine sucked worse than yours.
mine got better. but you guys can probably press it, if that helps any
yeah deadlifts are funny beasts. i have the same trouble with them. i’m kinda scared i’ll hurt my back, too, which makes me reluctant to ‘grip and rip’ mostly. but seems that doing that is precisely the way to go. unless… it is not. which is what worried me, i think.
Alexus - your comment is probably exactly why you should probably grip and rip, your like me and think about too much junk while doing the DL, and for me when I think too much I end up doing exactly what I didnt want to do…but then again your DL is progressing nicely…so maybe Im wrong lol.

Yes brother!
Over the past 2 days, I have watched 20 x 10min youtube clips (13 to go) by Dave Tate on Westside training. DL is almost an afterthought, although you do beat the shit out of exercises that support it. Clips are from 2005 and I believe they are doing a bit more direct DL now - but still.
I’ll admit to being a bit fucking confused at this point.
They looked a tad high to me too. The 325 looked better to me than 315 did regarding staying tight but all of them looked great to me.
Have you gotten “The Vault” from EFS yet? If not sign up for their strength club and you’ll get it free. The point is that there is some really good information on bands and how to insert them into your programming.
