Did you miss the part of my post where I said “it’s entertaining and exciting to watch?” I thought it was obvious I wasn’t talking about simply watching and enjoying sports, but maybe not. There are tons of people who are absolutely obsessive about a certain sport, football, soccer, or whatever, and will literally be near (or past) the point of swinging just to defend “their team,” should you talk shit about them.

Agreed. In the end, its just a game whether its basketball, football, soccer, rugby, or fuck, boxing. I’ll never invest that much emotion in a sport personally, but that doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy watching it to the fullest.
Looking at the pic Jack posted of the Celtics fan crying over his team’s loss, I can’t help but feel the dude’s over-reacting. He lost nothing, there’s no glory for that dude if his team wins. Its great when the side you pull for win, but big deal, you get nothing but satisfaction out of it.
It’s a sport, chill the fuck out.
Sure, it’s just a game. But when you have a favorite team, people who don’t like that team are invariably going to talk shit about that team and about you. Eventually you start to feel as if people talking shit about your team are talking shit about YOU since they pretty much go hand in hand anyways. I think this is where a lot of the passion that you two so easily dismiss as pointless comes from.
