Thanks man, but I’m even more jelly of those dudes who pull 500+ at 15. Dafuq?[/quote]
Understand that those guys usually already have a few years of lifting under their belt. Don’t confuse success with progress.

I suppose that’s true; I wasn’t really lifting legitimately until around freshman year, although I dabbled a lot before that. A lot of dudes that strong that young may have started training seriously since like 13. Dat head-start brah. I guess I compare myself to the likes of them because I’m rather competitive and want to be the best I can be.

I’m also competitive. Just understand the different variables that go into this.

I hear ya brah.

Anywho, tomorrow I’m going to give zerchers a shot for the first time in quite a while…hopefully my adductors hold up better this time around.

Also, I recently came across this band. So far I really like them. If anyone reading this likes Rammstein, then this may up your alley (skip 0:15). - YouTube

Warmup

Hip Mobility Work
Adductor Machine

I wanted to do zerchers today, but it seems I no longer have the flexibility to do them how I did them. When I narrowed my stance is just felt awkward, so I just did BB hacks instead…

Barbell Hack Squat

135 x some
225x5
275x3
325x2
390 x miss (fell forward, thought it was 380 LOL)
380 x miss (didn’t budge)
355x3

So I decided to work up to a heavy triple today on these. I was thinking maybe around 405 but if it didn’t happen it didn’t happen. I went to 380 (or so I thought) to do for a double to gauge what I’ll do today, but I accidentally put on 390, lost my balance and dropped the bar. So, I actually put on 380 this time and gave it like five tugs before saying “fuck it” and dropping down to 355, tripling it, and moving on. I know what you’re thinking Steve: “This isn’t what I wrote at all, what the fuck is this shit you dumbass!?” lulz

Speed Deadlift

(225x1)x4 (sumo)
(225x1)x6 (conventional)

These were just as bad as the hacks; had no speed behind them and I switch to some conventional singles because my adductor was iffy.

Snatch-Grip Deadlift

225x8
(250x8)x2

Up 5 lbs and one set from last week’s 245x8…technically some kind of PR…w00tw00t…

Incline Bench

45 x some
135x8
155x5
165x6
155x6

Switched to a ring finger on ring grip for these. They were weaksawce…I think I actually feel a little stronger on CG inclines. However, with training these should shoot up, and this was already on a bad note of a session, so not really a big surprise that they sucked today.

Face Pulls - 3 sets ramped

Standing Cable Abs - 4 sets ramped

I changed form on these a little. I took a wide stance, kept my legs completely straight, tried to squeeze it down with my abs, and maintain tension on the way up. They felt quite effective and a bit harder, but I was still able to work up to the stack for reps. This is probably my favorite ab exercise; very effective.

As a little something to kinda make up for this trash session, I did ten stair sprints when I got home. I haven’t done any GPP/HIIT in a while (I usually rely on PE stuff for that), but I think I still got my conditioning.

Hopefully copious amounts of cafeteria food will assist with this sub-par performance (break’s over tomorrow).

Warmup

Shoulder Dislocations - 2 x flapjacks
Neutral Grip Pullup - (BWx8)x2

Bench

(45 x some)x2
135x5
170x5
200x3
235x2
255x2 (PR) - spotter touched the bar on the 2nd rep, but I’m confident that I was capable of it
270x1 (PR)

Felt strong today and went for some PRs. Talked to my spotter after the 270. He said he didn’t help (he likes to spot close), although his finger could have made contact at some point. But, I didn’t feel any help and judging by the first rep of 255, I could have done 270 today, so I suppose I’ll take his word for it.

Reverse Grip Bench

165x10
(190x8)x2 (PR)
175x8
(205x5)x2 (PR)
155x10

I also did eight neutral-grip pullups between EVERY set with no kipping, rest-pausing, straps or anything: jus straight sets. Man, I felt like I could just keep going and going with these benches and pullups! Felt like I was in beastmode.

Rolling Tricep Extension

40’s x 10
45’s x 10
55’s x 10

one more set of eight pullups

Pretty damn good session today. Also played a nice game of floor hockey in PE today… apparently I’m becoming remotely okay at it now lulz.

Great PRs.

Warmup

Hip Mobility Work
Adductor Machine

Deadlift

135 x some
225x5
275x3
315x3
365x2
385x2
415x1
445x1
475 x no dice
405x1

I was a bit more active this week, played a good game of court hockey yesterday, so I was a little concerned about being shot today. Actually felt pretty good up until I got over 400; the pulls started to feel rather slow and off. I had a goal in mind to hit 475-485 for a triple. I should have just stuck with doing some singles with 445, but went meathead and tried to anyway; legs wouldn’t fire and I never broke from the floor. Took like ten little noob tugs at 405 before I did it for a quick single and moved on. Pretty pissed because I still don’t know how to control myself and turned what could have been a solid, productive session into a fucking mess.

Snatch-Grip Deadlift

225x5
275x5
315x5
365x1 (added straps)
380x1

Couple of PRs in there somewhere.

Ran out of time for anything else…tugging at a bar to no avail =/= a good session. Hope you’re taking notes lulz.

Live and learn I suppose (how many times until I learn? :P)…could have been worse. Hope to redeem myself soon.

I feel you on the deadlifts. I used to want to try and PR every session but for now I limit myself to whatever I can manage after my 5/3/1 worksets if I want to try singles. Hence why I missed the 485 again today. Wouldn’t budge. it will fall soon… and when it does post-fatigued I can realistically say I could hit 500+ with a deload and/or no volume before hand.

Keep it up man; it will come soon. I’m just going to have to use my head and know when the time is right.

Warmup

Hip Mobility Work
Adductor Machine

Barbell Hack Squat

135x5
225x5
275x5
315x5
(350x5)x3 (some kind of volume PR)

Not as strong as I would have liked today…hockey could have something to do with it (we got stomped, too). Didn’t feel too bad though…lost balance on a couple of reps however haha.

Speed Deadlift

225x3
(245x3)x2
(250x1)x5

Played around with some speed triples for a change. Overall rather fast I think.

Stiff-Legged Deadlift

(245x8)x2 (1st conventional, 2nd sumo)
(285x8)x2 (1st conventional, 2nd sumo, probably PR)

All from a 1" deficit. Sumo SLDLs feel weird to me…probably going to work on them for a bit.

Incline Bench

45 x some
135x8
155x6
170x6
175x6

Maybe some kind of PR in there, but a cheap as hell one at that. But, improvement from last week. 20 band pull-aparts between sets.

Ab Wheel Rollout - 3 sets

some pullups

Overall, not too shabby of a session; positives weigh more. Forgot leg curls…I’ll do them tomorrow.

Warmup

Shoulder Dislocations - vomit x shit
Neutral Grip Pullup - BWx10, 8 (honestly a bit close for comfort for a warmup haha)

Bench

(45 x some)x2
135x5
175x5
205x3
220x1
240x1
260x1
275x1 (PR)
280 x miss
225x5 (doesn’t count since the spotter was doing BBer style “all you brah” lulz)

I decided to ditch the 3,2,1 rep scheme just for today because 275 is a milestone and I wanted to hit it without getting fatigued beforehand. The 275 was obvi slow yet felt pretty smooth, so I figured “what the hell,” and gave 280 a shot. I’m thinking that it was partially mental, and that if I had a tad tighter setup with a bit more leg drive, I may have pressed it. Not fun failing reps haha…ah well; I could press this by the end of the month if I really wanted to, I think.

Close Grip Paused Bench

185x5
200x5
200x4
155x10 (Touch and Go)
165x10 (Touch and Go)

Neutral Grip Pullup

BWx5
BW 45x3
BW 60x2
BWx8
BWx6 (pause @ top)

First time trying these out weighted…felt weaker than usual.

Face Pull - 3 sets, short rest

A good day in my book.

Good work. 275 bench is a big goal of mine.

To press a lot, you must press a lot.

Thanks man. 275 is a milestone indeed. You’ll kill it.
