I was wondering who out there has tried the program and what you thought of it, I am starting it today and will let you guys know what i think. I just finished androsol after 4 weeks morning only protocol, so i am hoping this will add to the strength i have already gained.

If you don’t have much experience training explosively, it’s a nice change of pace. You might feel a little strange using light weights and not working to failure/near failure. I didn’t put on much muscle (didn’t eat for mass either), but my 1RM improved in all my core lifts. You probably don’t want to go too long without exposure to heavier loads, so I would only use this program for 3-4 weeks.

Cream thanx for the advice. I had only planned on doing it for the four weeks adviced in the article, did my first workout yesterday, really sore today. had a really good pump too, but didn’t expect that at all. I was shaking all over the place on the slow flyes and prone rows.

Given that I wrote the program over 2 years ago before Dave Tate started writing for the magazine, I’ll tell you that I’ve learned quite a bit since then and would change around a few things. How I use the CAT training now would take a long time to describe and would warrant another article, so I’ll just give you a few tips on updating the program a little. Train on a five day rolling split rather than a weekly split as long as your lifestyle allows it. Use chains on the core lifts if you have access to them, and sub glute ham raises for leg extensions on the first leg day. Lastly, put MUCH more focus on core training than originally outlined. I have since writing the program gained a great deal of appreciation for core training, and the focus was much too weak in the original article.

Doug i am not sure how you would go about a five day rolling split for this program, please explain a bit. Just to make sure I should incorporate some more ab and lower back work as well. One comment about the glute ham raises though is that I find them as hard as hell, I couldn’t complete one when I had previously tried them, is it ok if I use my hand to help out so I don’t crash to the floor.
Thanx Darko

Darko, where are you from?

For the split, train DAY 1: UPPER BODY ONE, DAY 2: LOWER BODY, DAY 3: OFF, DAY 4: UPPER BODY TWO, DAY 5: OFF, REPEAT… Do this 4 times and then switch to something new.

As for the core training, do a search for my name. I posted a core workout for someone else to do twice per week. For that, just pick two days a week that you're in the weight room as long as their 2 or 3 days apart. And yes it's fine to push off the ground with the glute ham raises, but assist yourself as minimally as possible.

Sasa, I am in halifax Nova Scotia, if the reason you are asking is because of the name I am using on the board, I am half Croatian, my father’s nickname was Darko

Oh, great… Do you speak Croatian? Btw. strange, Darko is not a nickname, rather a real first name. Well, I am Croatian too but living in Croatia. Nice to meet our people here…

It truely is amazing at how wide spead t-mag is, anyway , no unfortunatly i don’t speak croatian, my grandmother does however. The reason why Darko was my father’s nickname (i believe the rough translation in english is Ted) was that my grandmother wanted Darko to be my father’s name but the church would not baptise him with a first name of Darko, saying that it was not a proper first name. So even though it is a real name like you said, it was his nickname
Darko

We went a bit offtopic but nevermind… “Darko” doesn’t have a meaning in Croatian language, I do not think it is associated with “Ted”. Anyway, an interesting story and say hi to granny - I hope she’s having a time of her life in Florida.
