WTF

It amuses me how some people can’t tell the difference between a rant thread and a suicide/depression thread (especially when the OP ends with “Sorry for the rant”)

A ruptured bicep fucking sucks, especially <2 months out from natties (you could switch your grip so your over hand becomes your under and vice versa, but I think I read about Dave Tate pulling that once and then tearing his other bicep . . . )

Spending an hour outside in -20 fucking sucks, I’m just confused as to why you had to hold your jacket closed (no zipper? zipper broke?)

But you already know that. And you sound like the kind of fella who’ll pick yourself up, dust yourself off and be just fine.
I had a sling on so I couldn’t do my jacket up, unfortunately I didn’t have the mobility to put my arm through the sleeve. It was just the cap to a wonderful day.

Most of these boys would be crying like babies if they ruptured their bicep tendon, not to mention if it happened just a couple months out from a National competition.

Trying to cheer someone up with humor is one thing. I’m going to assume that’s the intent of some of the MEN here.

Macho mama’s boys with no empathy are just offensive. I’m a chick and all, and I don’t usually like to see violence, but even I’d like to see Stu kick some of your asses with his bad arm in a sling.

What do you think of the kinsmen? I’ve been there once thought it was alright, but ended up with a membership at world health. Thinking about getting a pass for the city facilities, and kinsmen is the closest to home.
It’s not bad, it’s one of the few places in the city that isn’t anti-powerlifter so that means a lot in my books. It’s not pro-powerlifter but I’ll take what I can get some days. lol.

Once nice thing at Kinsmen is I’ll also play squash, and use the prowler or sled on the track and stuff which is a real bonus. Overall for the cost it’s pretty good and I don’t really see myself going anywhere else until they turn more against us strong people.
The amenities are the main reason I’m looking to change. I think when I looked it up a while ago it was actually cheaper than World Health.

Do they have a sled there, or do you take your own? That’d be great if they had one there.
they have a sled, and a prowler though be prepared to provide your own rope for the sled ($5 at home depot) and use your belt. They also have bumper plates and platforms and chains that you can use in the lower weight room. I bring my own bands and nobody objects, they also don’t say anything about chalk and there’s a GHR upstairs which is sweet.

Overall it’s pretty good, not perfect but given the other options I like it.

plus there’s a SSB and a Cambered bar.

It’s all good, I didn’t so much rant for sympathy as because it felt good to get it out. I was perfectly well aware of what would happen to the thread due to the number of hardasses in here I don’t care. Most of them are internet posers who would shit themselves at the prospect of a 635lbs deadlift. not all but many.

I don’t need their sympathy to improve my self worth.
Nobody attacked your lifting capabilities and a 635 deadlift is nothing to scoff at but whining like a 5 year old school girl because you had a bad day will get you ridiculed in most circles not just here. You know who has the right to complain about their day? Soldier on tour, doctors in third world countries, and people with terminal illnesses. The funny thing is, they almost never do.

You’re an idiot. Greater problems elsewhere don’t invalidate his. If your mom and dad died (or your siblings if they’re already dead), and my reply was “Stop whining like a 5 year old girl, you have no right to complain, there are people who lost their whole extended families in Japan.”, would that make sense? No. It would make me look like an asshole. I’ll let you figure out what that says about you.

Soldiers have absolutely no right to complain. They signed up, and should have known what the possible situations they could find themselves in could be. Doctors in third world countries have no right to complain because, like the soldier, they chose that. Use better examples next time.

Everyone has the right to complain, there’s no line, there’s no cutoff. If some dude wants to complain that he got a splinter under his fingernail go ahead, it may not be as bad as my issue but it still fucking hurts him. My issue may not be as bad as another’s but it still fucking hurts me.

There’s no line at which we say “below here you can’t complain”,.

He ruptured his biceps tendon, it’s a big injury and not very common weightlifting injury . It’s painful and a long slow comeback .

And he has some other crap going on, cut him a break. We all got dumped , we all had to walk on the cold or rain , but very few ruptured a biceps tendon .

People need a case of lighten up Francis around here .

Pretty common injury amongst strongman and powerlifters who are in the weightlifting category.

Lol. I’m not comparing them at all. It was an example set up using the logic you set out. If I was comparing them, I would have said “If you dumped your girlfriend you can’t complain because people are dying in africa” or something like that.

Let me put it in injury terms because you don’t seem to understand what I’m getting at with the death examples. By your logic, if you rupture your biceps tendon, you have no right to complain about it because there are people with cancer or much worse health conditions. Or, if you dump a girlfriend and regret it, you have no right to complain because elsewhere there are people saying things they regret and gettting divorces.

Essentially, you don’t get to complain unless you have the worst situation possible by your logic. A man with a broken hand doesn’t want to hear that he has no right to complain because elswehere there are people with broken backs.

It’s known , but not common. There is a difference . I treat injuries . For 20 + years.

Shoulders and back injuries are much more common . Elbow issues . This is up there with a quad tendon rupture . He’ 'll come back , but it is tough .

Can you explain your “soldiers have no right to complain” comment?

I mean yeah we know what we are getting our selves into, but I imagine if one of my legs got blown off I’d feel like I earned the “right” to complain a little bit.

Man, I wish I was as cool as some people especially because people outside and inside the internet don’t want to hear people complaining as it drowns out the sound of their own complaining.

I have to agree. Half of this thread is people complaining about a guy complianing…makes for a good laugh I guess though.

I just can’t wait to hear why a soldier doesn’t have the “right” to complain. Should be interesting to say the least.
usmccds423 wrote:

Apparently soldiers know what they sign up for and should expect the horrendous things they see, but a person who deadlifts should have no such expectation of injury. Interesting logic, indeed.

OP…shitty day, no doubt. But you can at least try and fix the GF thing I would imagine.

So this has been the worst 12 hours of my life since 2007 when my mother died and I crashed my motorcycle.

I broke up with my girlfriend today, due to my own stupidity and insecurity.

Then I went to the gym, where I ruptured my biceps tendon deadlifting. Guess we can kiss my hopes of winning, or even competing at, nationals in May goodbye.

Then to top it off I had to walk 5km in -20 holding my jacket shut with my good hand with no gloves or hat because my ride left his cell on the table rather than take it to bed and being friday night there are no cabs. I may now have frostbite on my good hand.

The worst part is that this really just tops off an awful few weeks. I’m really starting to hope that maybe tomorrow I look the wrong way and just don’t see the bus.

Sorry for the rant.

We are defined by our struggles.

First, comparing breaking up with your GF and an injury to the loss of your mom in the same sentence, same post, is poor form and very myopic.

I had major neck surgery in the late 90’s. Less than a year later, I deadlifted 600 lbs. Put one foot in front of the other like you did in the cold, and you too shall return. Or, you won’t. The choice is yours.

Man is not defined in good times. Any man can be good when conditions are good.
