WTF

Apparently soldiers know what they sign up for and should expect the horrendous things they see, but a person who deadlifts should have no such expectation of injury. Interesting logic, indeed.

OP…shitty day, no doubt. But you can at least try and fix the GF thing I would imagine.
I did try to fix it tonight but it failed, it was kind of doomed to. That’s okay though, more than anything I want her to be happy and at the end of the day I know that she’ll find someone who’ll make her a lot happier than I ever could so I’m okay with that.

Meh I’ll keep going, it’s not like there’s really another option on the table.

It’s all good, I didn’t so much rant for sympathy as because it felt good to get it out. I was perfectly well aware of what would happen to the thread due to the number of hardasses in here I don’t care. Most of them are internet posers who would shit themselves at the prospect of a 635lbs deadlift. not all but many.

I don’t need their sympathy to improve my self worth.
Nobody attacked your lifting capabilities and a 635 deadlift is nothing to scoff at but whining like a 5 year old school girl because you had a bad day will get you ridiculed in most circles not just here. You know who has the right to complain about their day? Soldier on tour, doctors in third world countries, and people with terminal illnesses. The funny thing is, they almost never do.
Soldiers have absolutely no right to complain. They signed up, and should have known what the possible situations they could find themselves in could be. Doctors in third world countries have no right to complain because, like the soldier, they chose that. Use better examples next time.
Can you explain your “soldiers have no right to complain” comment?

I mean yeah we know what we are getting our selves into, but I imagine if one of my legs got blown off I’d feel like I earned the “right” to complain a little bit.
Don’t get me wrong, I mean no disrespect when I say that. But, as a tool of the government you’re there to take orders and follow them. No matter what. When in that position and knowing that you will probably be sent into combat I don’t think it matters if you get hit by shrapnel or loose a limb. That’s the life. So, unless your superiors order you to complain, then a soldier shouldn’t, and probably wouldn’t.

sturat i hope you have a wonderful day. i mean that.

Same here. Plus, what BodyGuard had said previously.

Lst night I engaged in man’s cure all: Beer. There was also irish whiskey involved as well.

Today I’m still bummed about missing out on nationals due to the bicpes but I think the disappointment is pretty reasonable. The girl? Meh, I’m disappointed but since there’s little to nothing I can do I’ll just move on. . .

Amusingly it’s the damn frostbite that hurst the most.

However today is looking like a pretty good day overall.

Pain heals and chicks dig scars.

Look I’m not trying to bust your balls or anything, but we aren’t all like Kurt Russel in Soldier for cryin out loud. We complain just like everyone else certainly not in ear shot of our command, but come on. I mean when the duty roster comes out and you get a Saturday 24 hour post you don’t say, “Outstanding selection sir! I’ll guard my post with my life all day sir!” (this example of course is if you are not in a combat zone by the way) No you say, “Fuck Saturday post again…I know there’s a goddamn corporal that can stand this post. Fucckkkkk!”

Most Marines/Soldiers I’ve met that have serious injuries from combat don’t complain and most wouldn’t imo, but for mundane trivial tasks like standing a post at the barracks on some random base is going to elicit some complaint…funny my recruiter didn’t mention barracks duty during his sales pitch either…

You’re an idiot. Greater problems elsewhere don’t invalidate his. If your mom and dad died (or your siblings if they’re already dead), and my reply was “Stop whining like a 5 year old girl, you have no right to complain, there are people who lost their whole extended families in Japan.”, would that make sense? No. It would make me look like an asshole. I’ll let you figure out what that says about you.
You are comparing the op dumping his gf and then whining about it, to a person’s family members dying and I am the idiot? think that one through a bit.
Lol. I’m not comparing them at all. It was an example set up using the logic you set out. If I was comparing them, I would have said “If you dumped your girlfriend you can’t complain because people are dying in africa” or something like that.

Let me put it in injury terms because you don’t seem to understand what I’m getting at with the death examples. By your logic, if you rupture your biceps tendon, you have no right to complain about it because there are people with cancer or much worse health conditions. Or, if you dump a girlfriend and regret it, you have no right to complain because elsewhere there are people saying things they regret and gettting divorces.

Essentially, you don’t get to complain unless you have the worst situation possible by your logic. A man with a broken hand doesn’t want to hear that he has no right to complain because elswehere there are people with broken backs.
I think you are confused as to who is not getting things here. Where did I say you don’t get to complain unless you are in the worse possible scenario? No where. I simply brought up some examples of people who get to complain like soldiers, doctors in third world countries and cancer patients. My point was that this situations does not warrant complaining and giving up but getting up and doing something about it (as can be seen per my examples in the first post).

i.e. only people in very harsh/ exposed to some of the worst situations possible can complain.

How does one get up and do something about a bicep tendon tear?

Whatever though. I give up on this. I don’t care enough to keep arguing it. My point is that he DOES have a right to complain with his situation as it is.

^All 11 inches of that bicep is dedicated to you feeling better Sturat.

You’ll be back on your game soon.

And for those of you who have recently pulled a glute, no I don’t do photos for that.

Did I mention I may also have torn an adductor right near the proximal (top) attachment?

Tore biceps tendon almost two years ago to this month. I can tell you that it is a long recovery and the surgery sucks big time, but I did my last set of 3 today with 455 so you can come back from it. Good luck.
Sturat wrote:

That was very, very funny.

I’ve heard frozen peas are good for that sort of thing.

Or you could probably just go sit in the front yard, being in Canada and all.

Anytime you can say “Meh” about a girl you can be pretty sure you were just passing idle time with her.

Actually I think I’m saying to try and convince myself I was doing just that, however it’s not working.

So instead I now have a plan. We broke up Friday, chatted Sunday, she said she needed space. So basically I’ve been avoiding texting her, although she was texting me for some diet advice so I’m hoping that’s a good sign.

This Saturday she’ll be at work and I’m going to have this new thing I invented delivered.

It’s an apology cactus! Because nothing says “I was a prick” like a cactus!

There will also be flowers and a note that basically says I was an idiot, I’m sorry, please forgive me, and can we try again. I really want to be hopeful but at this stage I’m not holding out a ton of hope, trying to mitigate the hurt if it fails I guess.

But still, I can hope a little.

That’s actually not a bad idea for a business.

The lady at the flower whop had to sit down because she was laughing so hard. She said now whenever guys come in for flowers she’s going to try and sell them an apology cactus. My life will be completed the day I get one.

This is what you buy for her when you’ve been a prick for a whole week. lol
