That is so fucking crazy. How did the people around him not recognise what was going on? I just don’t get how yhe could get away with this for so long.

What the motherfucking fuck man. It also raises the question “if this is happening right under the noses of a DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL PROGRAM then where else is it happening?”

It happens here too, except its through hockey channels.
There have been NHLers that have come forward about their sexual abuse while going through the ranks.
We talked about this in my stats class this morning and what level of responsibility Joe Paterno the AD and the Pres had once it was reported. From what I know, Sandusky was caught by a graduate assistant who approached Paterno about it (in 2002 I believe). Paterno then approached the AD about it and left it at that. The AD and the President of the Uni swept it under the rug and covered it up.
Now, the question posed to the class was once Paterno reported it, was his moral obligation regarding the matter achieved? An overwhelming majority of the class said no, he and anyone else involved had a moral obligation to ensure that Sandusky’s crimes be stopped and Sandusky face the authorities for his years of abuse.
I personally think Paterno, the AD, the Pres, the guy who initially caught Sandusky in the act should be held to some level of accountability for their failure to report this sick fuck to the authorities. I don’t care how ancient Paterno is and how legendary a coach he is, he deserves to answer for his indifference regarding the matter.

Joe Pa has a history of worrying about Penn State and thats it…He hired a womens basketball coach that was outwardly vocal about not having any lesbians on her woman basketball team, which is next to impossible yet she lasted at Penn State over 20 years. Some women’s lives were ruined because of her yet Joe Pa remained tight lipped.
I believe it was a graduate assistant who actually viewed a 10 year old getting raped in the shower, Joe Pa new about this and did as little as possible being a mandated reporter. Disgusting and vile, Sandusky preyed on the weak broken home somewhat “nerdy” boy and fucking travelled with them!
These predators always seem to find to get them selves in roles such as Sandusky had with these children, they use these roles that are outwardly trusting and caring to quell their thirst for little boys.
I just listened to an old Sandusky interview on the radio talking about his football camp and he used the words “touch” and “feel” and it made me sick to my stomach…
Once again my faith in humanity takes another jarring hit[/quote]
Hopefully the outcry about these events on this site and elsewhere can restore some of your faith in humanity. Now, having any faith in individual humans is up to you. I’ll admit I do not have much.

I know this feeling is over-reactionary right now, but when my son is of age to play sports I’m going to be the dad that looks at his coaches sideways.
And not because the coach didn’t let him steal second or benched him without reason or wasn’t appropriately taught how to cut on an out route.
Because I need to make triple-quadruple sure his coach isn’t touching him inapropriately.
What the motherfucking fuck man. It also raises the question “if this is happening right under the noses of a DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL PROGRAM then where else is it happening?”

I have a daughter and already was fully prepared to be her coach in whatever. At age five we are starting some martial.art ( krav maga is my choice, do not care.about the head stuff, I want to be able to defend herself) and coaching soccer after that.
Yeah dude thanks that actually gives me some perspective…
I already posted my opinion in the other thread. The part I just can’t wrap my head around is how McQueary, the GA turned Asst. Coach, could watch Sandusky rape a little boy in the showers and then see him around campus for YEARS without doing anything.
The AD and the other guy who resigned are absolute filth of the human race. They heard 3 seperate reports of Sandusky and child sex abuse and never called the police. Sandusky was still on the PSU campus as late as LAST FUCKING WEEK.
And 2002 wasn’t the first time Joe Pa heard about something like this. Remember that Sandusky was investigated in 1998, and he fucking admitted it! He told the mother of the victim he was sorry and he wouldn’t do it again. He conveniently retired before the next season started. THEN 4 years later Joe Pa hears whatever he heard from McQueary, and he can’t put 2 and 2 together? Bullshit. He is just as guilty as the rest in all this.
Joe Pa is acting like he’s still going to be coaching. Dude is totally out of touch with reality. If Penn State was smart they would fire Paterno and gut the entire school tomorrow. Administrators, coaches, anybody who had any semblance of a part in this.

I just couldn’t get though that, glad I am generally called cold and impersonal.

Suddenly child tracker 3000 doesn’t seem quite as silly

I wish Bauer was still around. Would love to hear his input on this.
I have family that live near State College and I can tell you, that town, that stadium, that campus, and that program are what sits at the end of the Yellow Brick Road for a lot of people. It’s not just the school that is affected, it’s all of that region, stretching into parts of Ohio, New Jersey, New York, and West Virginia. Most of that reputation hung squarely over the shoulders of the football program and Joe Paterno.
That has to all be erased now, has to be. For anyone to defend PSU is by proxy defending pedophelia, right? Isn’t that how it feels right now?

On point.
This has to be the tipping point for firing Paterno. Even before this scandal I always thought he was holding that program back. They were keeping him because of the power he had at the University.
Latest stuff I’ve read indicates he will be outta there very soon.

I honestly think this is gonna turn out to be bigger than just a a cover up by the school. The guy was reported to police in '98 and NOTHING happened. I think pockets were lined and blind eyes were turned all over that town to keep this thing from ever going public.

Ah yes, I have been wondering where he disappeared to.
Who wants to bet these guys are Catholics? Speaking of institutional pedophilia.
