Cool! Thanks for the heads up!
glorious
Thanks for the heads up. Good lookin out homeslice.
After watching WSM all day, I just wanted to say that Tarmo Mitt (Estonia) is a BEAST!!!
That is all.
Awesome, this is the best christmas present ever.
watching the finals I have confirmed Mariusz pudzianowski is not human. He never seems to be tired and is so incredibly strong being so much lighter and shorter then his competition.
Mariusz wins. He beasted it, but for some reason I don’t like the guy, although he’s the 4 time worlds strongest man, I find he is far from a humble champion and has an attitude toward his fellow competitors.
Strong as fuck though and he deffinately earned the title and picked up his lagging points (fingers) with intense gym training. Has a very aesthetic physique as well, looks a lot like a bodybuilder and that’s deffinately an added bonus.
Yea Marius is a fucking animal, i just noticed the attitude thing a bit in this competition…
I was watching it in the gym actually which made for awesome motivation, but some dude was talking to me about gear being legal in the soviet block, which is why they do so much better than us in the USA…I have no idea weather it is true or not, i was just like ok man, and popped the headphones back in and got to work
any thoughts on guys juicing in WSM?

Does it really matter if they are or not?

It not tested for, again they are the strongest men and got that way with HARD work. Mariez has a bit of an attitude but he has earned it, never had it while he was climbing the ranks. Now that he is the best he tries to be a little competetive to try and get some people to chase him a bit. As of right now no one is close to him. He wants more competetion out of his fellow strongman and I expect next year to be awesome. I just wish they showed it on tv more-like the super series- instead of just the once a year WSM.
I think my favorite moment last night was when that one black guy from the UK- older guy, kind of a Caribbean accent- was deadlifting. Kevin Nee went first and totally smoked all the reps with good time and proceeds to whoop and holler and that. Then the British guy goes up, hits all the reps, beats him by a second and then pulls the last weight a couple more reps just for the fuck of it.

Mariusz is not better because of steroids. He’s better because of all the great Met-Rx products he uses.

I don't like the guy, it's true about the attitude. After the Arnold classic sm show Was over, I asked I could get a pic with my son and him. He said no problem, just give me five minutes. He just blew us off.
And no, I wasn’t a pain in the ass. I was on the medical staff and was not pushy and waited to ask when he was not busy. I’ve been at a lot of these events and have competed myself and would not ask at a bad time.Every other competitor I asked that weekend had no problem, whether a powerlifter or strongman or other athlete.
He’s a great athlete, but imo has gotten a little of the big head syndrome. Or maybe that it’s that he can’t win at the Arnold.

Watching Marsuiz put on a show in the finals live really made me realize just how un-human the guy is.
They don’t call him the dominator for nothing.

This is true, Marsuiz is intensity personified. When he is warming up for an event he has this face like he is getting ready for war. He was the only competitor that kind of blew me off when I tried to talk to him though. On the same hand I think he also makes sure not to get distracted when its game time. After the first two events where over and day 1 he took pictures with a bunch of people.
They showed the Mohegan Sun and Venice beach super series on tv this year. on FSN a few months ago. The production quality isn’t as good as the Met-RX WSM though but it also doesn’t take two weeks to shot it!
Mohegan Sun Super Series 2008 is in January I believe.
Should be an awesome comp as Kevin Nee always seems to do good there.
Funny thing while watching the finals last night.
This girl was over and as it was starting she went on about how those guys are “to big” and I “shouldn’t get like that” because “you end up looking gross”
than after Marsuiz crushed the medley and Kaz was interviewing him in a hushed tone she said “he has a REALLY nice body”
So what where you saying?
exactly…
I found it amusing.
My wife was asking “is Mariusz married” and gave me permission to look like him, haha.
Pudz is superhuman, do doubt about it. The guy is just amazing to watch.
I would guess 75% or more are on something. I know both Pfister and Magnus have both stated numerous times they are drug free. This makes some sense if you look at their career and physique.
On another note, I am somewhat disappointed in the weights still being used at WSM.
I mean, a 275lb log for reps??? This is what I have in my upcoming amatuar show!
A 353lb finishing stone? Again, most HW AM shows are heaiver than this. Maybe I am just being picky, but it seems like you have to go through hell to earn a pro card and qualify for the big show, and then the weights decrease??
