WSJ Article on Abadjiev

@Gqartguy - You sound like you train there as well? Do they have a website? I’d gladly drive down to Cali to see Abadjiev speak if they ever do clinics.[/quote]

I do. The website is csanutrition.com, hes given a seminar there before but Im not sure when hes going to do another one in Danville. Hes given seminars in Kansas, Rhode Island, and I think he has one in Toronto coming up.

Also, my last post was edited by mods. If you want to learn more about deliberate practice, go do bodyrecomposition.com and google it.

i know mendes would never leave broz, but he really is a hopeful if there is one

He’s strong as hell, but there are plenty of other lifters that arguably have a better chance/have already been more successful - Kenrick Farris and Jared Fleming immediately spring to mind, ditto Ian Wilson. You have to bear in mind the current SHW world champion is the same age as Mendez and is already doing it at the top level. There are other lifters like the Adz lifter are very young and competing at the top level too.

Ian is training with Abadjiev now too.

not to mention Mendez’s jerk is fucking terrible and will not hold up in competition.

He just did 170/205 going 3/6 in his latest comp last week:

http://www.utahsummergames.org/sports/pdf/Weightlifting/2011%20USG,%20Session%20II%20Scoresheet%20-%20Final.pdf

I think it should be said that it is ridiculous to slate him as an athlete - he is strong as hell and has plenty of time to develop in to a contender - it is just idiotic for every swinging dick to start touting his name about like he is performing at an unprecedented level when he isn’t.

so much for that 207/240 training lifts of his…

it’s really not so bad.

  1. He’s inexperienced and will get used to the competition IF he keeps competing.

  2. I’m sure his coach knows how much he needs to rely on straps so they’ll get that sorted

  3. Training lifts are always higher than comp. lifts. Klokov clean and jerked 242 kg! (check out vid)

I think we still have big things to see from Pat Mendez.

Perhaps the competitions need some sweet pop music

lolz. i don’t know how they can lift to that shit. damn he was built. i’ve started getting into watching UFC fighting (i wish i wasn’t too beat up for MMA) and am surprised at how skinny their legs are. perhaps weightlifting has corrupted me???

Apprently Klokov weighed 115kg in that video according to the comments section. Dropping 10kg from a relatively lean bodyweight WILL hurt your lifts.

A SHW guy doesn’t care about the weight drop as there is none!

No, they do have skinny legs. It’s like a Gymnast with skinny legs, it also looks more apprent as the Gymnast and UFC guys have wide upperbodies.

My upperbody is a bit under developed comapred to my legs but I spend all my time pounding FS, Sn and CJ and rarely do upperbody sh!t anymore.
