Wrestling effecting waist size.

I’ve wrestled almost all of my life and qualified for states my sophmore year. This year I’ve managed to get mat time all Summer. But I also bodybuild just because I love it and am competing the 18th.

But I’ve noticed the more I wrestle the more squared my body gets almost to fit the stay tight to win philosophy. I have not gained any body fat according to the bf measurements yet my waist has grown an inch.

Also does anyone have any links to strength training programs they really liked besides Reg Park. I’ve always lifted for bodybuilding and in a bodybuilding manner. But with only a month of strength training my 1rm has doubled in all olympic lifts and my moves are so much more powerful in wrestling.

we r alot alike here, i found doing a superset of high rep deep squats and wide grip decline pullovers will lean you out and widen your upper body, so your waist will appear smaller

how long did you put this in your routine? or is it a weekly thing. How long did it take you to see results I’m not looking for an over night cure. Just curious to see if it could help to introduce this now and see some results before the contest.

You’ve wrestled all your life and it didn’t cause your waist to grow, then it coincidentally grew after a month of strength training. And you’re convinced it’s the wrestling?

You’ve always lifted for bodybuilding in a bodybuilding manner yet you’re doing olympic lifts?

If your waist is growing and you hadn’t added body fat it would mean you grew some muscle on that area.

Any other mysteries?

its that it grew so much in such a short amount of time its always had growth during wrestling. But This year I’ve tried to live on the mat and I’ve found my body is squaring and is losing its taper and my waist seems to have widened as an effect of the wrestling.

And olympic lifts are neccasary for bodybuilding according to Arnold’s encylcopedia to produce muscle maturity. Besides that it is pointless to not have your physique be functional.

I think most people who train in a bodybuilding manner do a mix of bodybuilding movements and olympic lifts. I’m just saying I’m no different.

Though your probably right, maybe I did just have a gain in that area and am over reacting.
