Used to be good mates back about 10 years ago with a guy who was a vaguely successful amateur competitor here in Australia. Dedicated, lived it. Looked incredible, just wasn’t on the same level as the guys who were winning shows.

I went away for a year and came back, and he just looked amazing, a whole nother step ahead. Won his class and overall at the nationals that year. When I asked him what had changed, diet, new training, stopped working nights etc, he said ā€œNah nah man, I started selling gear, so I finally had enough money to take enoughā€.

Great friendly guy, family man, jehova’s witness. I once watched him throw a dude down two flights of concrete stairs.

Risking jail time for dealing and assault plus more evidence that the gear is what makes the difference, seems kinda sad but glad you shared it

I wonder what Mr O. competitors will look like in 30 years! The idea of dwarfing the likes of Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman seems crazy!
That would be fucking insane!! I can’t even bring myself to imagine such a thing… Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Ramy =P

Yes! ^This guy is going to have all eyes on him when he walks out on stage come September.

Ramy is a joke. No aesthetics, no density, no calves. A blow up doll like Phil Heath but uglier. And no way he’s bigger then let’s say Ruhl and Coleman in the past. Ramy = mega dose IGF-1 without BB foundation.
Future will be for guys WITH foundation who dare to take mega dose IGF-1. It’s a gamble. If the cancer cells in your body don’t grow along with it, you survive and become huge and lean. But nobody will last 8 years on the top anymore. Careers will be short.
Today is a transition period for BB.

There are actually some photos circulating online of him 3 years ago. While he was still fairly big by normal standards, he did not possess the sheer size he did when he stepped onstage at the 2013 NYP.

IGF-1 LR3 my friend. Or did you think he just upped his squat routine and ate more rice and dry chicken?

Sorry, I overlooked this other possibility!

Of course Arnold wouldn’t win a modern day Mr. Olympia. He is far too old now. Same with Franco Colombu and Frank Zane. They are too old to start competing again.

Are they older then Branch Warren??

lols!

regarding Arnold in his prime on todays cocktail of PEDs - would ruin the sweeps and would ā€˜balance’ out (i.e. remove) the impressiveness of arms and chest. Wouldn’t get to star in Conan afterwards either!

bodybuilding for girls have changed considerably . too . it has become a more select sport than in yesteryear more specialised it seems . arnie i think didnt like the way things are evolving

I don’t agree with that comparison picture of Arnold and Ronnie. There is no way Arnold had 22" arms if he was only 235 lbs. I doubt they were over 20. It’s not that Arnold had such great ā€œarmsā€, what he had was exceptional biceps and most of us know that triceps contribute the most to upper arm mass.

Arnolds total package is yet to be surpassed. I agree he shouldnt have won in 1980. But theres a picture of him hiting a double biceps pose in the gym with joe weider in 1974. That has never been surpassed by anyone except possibly sergio 72 when he hits his incomparable hands overhead victory pose. Arnold and Sergio are as good as it ever got.

Bigger today YES. But BETTER? Never. They just dont get itt Theres only so much size you can have before it starts to look stupid like a cartoon charactor. Would I want to look like Arnold 74 or Sergio 72. Or Cutler or Coleman today. I will take Sergio and Arnold in 72—74 everytime.

Arnie’s legs are nowhere near Ronnie’s, but if you look at upper body, Arnie’s biceps may even be a little bigger and he’s not much smaller, his waist is thinner and he’s certainly less bulky, but muscular wise, ronnie doesn’t have much in him

Didn’t Arthur Jones once say that Arnold’s arms were only about 20" at most?

(Paging Chris Colucci, I know you’ve got a link to this somewhere! -lol)

Ironically, today’s guys wouldn’t qualify in the 70s either, in their current form.
