Brain picks up 2.5 points on Tom in the log. Not a knockout, but game on. He did over 200 in training. Seems like a mind thing again.

Maybe. But it is still not a disaster. Brian clawed back 2.5pts. To win Brian needs to be 2pts clear of Tom for the stones really.
(Why 2pts; if it comes to stones and Brian is 1pt clear - and Tom wins the stones. Its a pts draw so the person that wins the stones wins the title. So Brian needs to be 2pts clear and finish no further that 1 place below Tom).
That’s another 5pts.
Personally I’d say it’s a tired thing. Brian has pressed a 210kg log before and has been hitting 450lb+ in training (205kg).
There is a good chance Tom is either saving him self OR just wasted himself.
We might never know.

I don’t know why everyone seems down on Brian in the stones. He’s maybe second best in the world. I do think Tom is better, but there’s more than a little chance Brian could beat him in both the stone and deadlift. Brians at least good enough one slip on the stones for Tom could be enough.

Honestly - I’m not down on Brian at all. I think he is hugely under rated here in the UK. And in the world of Eddie Halls and Thors he stands a pillar of professionalism. Can you imagine Shaw wanting to fight a fellow strong man?
But the situation is what it is. Tom is the best stone lifter the world has ever seen. Its highly unlikely that Shaw will win that event. But not impossible.
I still think Shaw needs to be worried about not getting on the podium. There are now 2 guys within a 1.5pts of him. Sure Luke is not a dead lifter but he did well in the heats. And will be fired up to make the podium with his brother. And Maxime is no slouch. If Shaw does the same in this event as the last and score lower than the guys below him - its going to be interesting.
That said - Shaw is the 2nd best stone lifter the world has ever seen… So can count on beating both Luke and Maxime’s times. And will anyone REALLY beat Shaw by enough reps to get 2pts clear? I doubt it.
In all honestly I think it will come down to Tom does “okay” in the dead lift and Brian eats back a few more pts. Maybe even draws / takes the lead. But Tom does a number in the stones. Its risky. Because you are right 1 mistake and its all over. But its about playing the game. If Brian has to go all in on the dead lifts to win and Tom keeps a rep in the bank - then its advantage Stoltman.

And then 3rd will be … God knows. It is between Luke and Maxime. Maxime will take more pts on the dead lift and Luke more pts on the stones. It depends on who else does what on the dead lifts. IF there is a mass draw for either and then pts get divided then that person will be at a disadvantage. Like Luke on the keg toss. A great coemption this year
For the record I kind of want Brian to win this one but largely because this is about it for him. I want Tom to win to but he’s got years. Brian did beat Tom in the dead lift and will pick up at least a point and a half I think

So results from the last round. MAN what a final. Tom and Brain will face off on the stones.
I called 3rd place wrong. Maxime only getting 3 reps - 1pt I did not see. And Trey getting the win to come from 6th…
Luke is VERY lucky as 6 reps was only good enough for 2nd in that event. He has to rely on his stones now. But he is a great stone lifter.
One point between Shaw and Tom. Assuming atlas stones are the tiebreaker and TOM and Brian are number one and number two it’s winner take all last event.

This one is already a classic. The veteran gunning for his last all in push for a title. The young gun ready to start his dynasty. The 2 best stone lifters in the world. It’s even the tortoise and the hair.
All I really want at this point is for both guys to go for it, not make any mistakes, and let the chips fall where they may. I’d just hate for it to end on a slip or controversy or something.

I’m torn. This proved Brian still had it. I hope he (and everyone else) sees it as such. I really feel like this was best Brian. No shortcomings it is what it is.

Agh!!! Done with sad. Go TOM! Luke is probably giving him a hug right now and crying. Some scotch for me tonight.
Brian did well to get back within striking distance but it was always going to be tough to beat Tom in the stones.

Yup. Brian got third but, looking at the times, Tom destroyed everyone by a ridiculous amount.
