World's Strongest Man competitors

That’s awesome. Cameron and I just both graduated from Purdue. He told me he was going through you to try and land a job in the industry. We worked out together up there over the last couple of years. I’m stoked about going up there to watch you guys compete this summer.

I don’t think these guys have that great of “power.” If you notice most all of the events, if not all (although i could be mistaken) are mainly endurance lifts. I don’t know any of them would train OLs.

700+squats and deads are average…500+ benches are pretty average…350+ seated military- average…not powerful?
Many events are strength endurance…clean 275 on a log and press it as many times as you can…it gets the heart a pumping…then the next day come back and press 400 over head…that strength…I use the OL to help my explosiveness…Power snatches really help the keg toss…cleans help with stones…This year they are bringing back more max lifts…squat and standing press…At the American hercules we will have a max dead with a car(adding weight) and a max log press…
800 pound yokes will humble 800 pound squaters…410 pound round stones won’t even move for guys with 700 deads…UNLESS THEY TRAIN FOR IT!

thanks for the response coy. It is obvious that i am not familiar with all of the events, but all mentioned with the possible exception of the keg toss are maximal strength and endurance events, not “power” events like olympic lifts. This isn’t really a criticism, as “power” lifting isn’t in most cases a power sport either…

Not many guys use olympic movements because they do not know how…I use the power snatch for the keg toss…and I push press and push jerk for shoulder both with a thick bar and a log. I prefer the high pull over cleans because the cleans torque my wrist too much…I front squat every third workout, but nothing an OL would brag about.

pat, I’ve never seen John Berardi, Ian King, Charles Poliquin, Charles Staley, Dan Duchaine, or anybody else some of these T-Mag people know. Man they must really suck cause I’ve never seen them on TV. These people must not know poop. It seems like everybody on TV works for Men’s Health and is not from Canada or Australia.

Patty-to-pat: Hopefully you’re being sarcastic, but it’s a bit difficult to tell since your sentence structure is choppy. If you’re not trying to be funny, why don’t you rephrase so we know just who and why you’re attacking people.
