From what I can tell, the monster truck tyre yoke was a good 200lbs lighter than they expected it to be. They seemed to make the decision to put that weight onto the first yoke to make up for it.
That looked like a bad decision as only Kearney was able to finish from group 1.
You don’t want stuff that heavy in the heats, basically it would have just been the top guys finishing the event.
Brian is 100% healthy through the heats so that makes it interesting, Martins is doing well and has a v good smart support team with Odd advising and encouraging! MateusZ and Oleksi Ukrainian very very athletic, it is going to be a good one!
Oleksii Novikov seems to be the breakout star. Not big enough to podium without some others getting injured, but showing he can hang. Hope he takes the stones to make the final.
I’ll be surprised if there’s not a backlash from some of the competitors, namely Novikov and him being essentially robbed of getting to the finals.
Congrats and props to Trey though. Great strongman and I’m not exactly expecting him to be a slouch in the finals. Just silly seeing as Novikov could have beaten Trey half asleep and he still missed out. Oh well.
Here’s to another year of fuckery in corporate strongman! Yee yaw!
P.S. totally amazed by both of their performances in the stones. Trey could have just kept going, too. Texas=best stone lifters.
Apparently, if Caron’s second opponent couldn’t lift the stone, they were going to let the guy who finished last have a go with a forklift.
BTW, I feel Kearney also got hard done by. Unlike Novikov, he split the heat wins with Thor and if he dragged the trucks 50cm further would probably have made the final.
Unless he completely fails the stones. He’s up five on Mateusz and 8 on Thor. I guess Mateusz still has a Chan e if he wins the stones and Martins tears a biceps. But failing that(or another twist, are the stones doubled this year) it’s over.
How good is Martins at stones? I know Martins is a squat, deadlift and grip master, but is he tall enough, long enough in the arms to be a good stone lifter? What is Mateusz like?
Is there anywhere showing/streaming it live? I think Martins has a great advisor in Odd and a good team. I think he will do it in the stones, enough to win that is…
