She’s already older (17 I think) the webpages seem quite out of date. There have been a couple of TV programmes about her in the UK. It seems her strength comes from her muscle fibres being attached to her tendons at an unusual angle which gives her more pulling power.
I’d be interested to take a look at the images for her muscle morphology - do you happen to have a link to something that describes how they investigated it?

Thanks.
The family are Jehovah Witnesses and will not allow her to be tested for any physiological anomalies. The dad trained her from a baby and now he trains her little sister. He started training them by tying little sand bags to their wrists and arms as they played.

She won the opportunity to train with the national team and the chance to represent Ukraine in the Olympics but her father would not allow her to train under the sole supervision of the Ukrainian coaches because he was afraid they would make her take steroids. Plus they would not let him participate in her training.

They showed two other strong girls (twins) in the documentary who were being trained by the Ukrainian coaches for the national Olympic weight lifting team and they had male voices, it was unreal! So the dad was right to keep her out of the national system.

check out the link for other strong kids in the documentary…

Interesting - things like pennation angle and muscle moment arm length can be determined with ultrasound and/or MR, is that sort of thing against the creed of Jehova’s Witnesses?

Thanks for the link as well, but it looks like it’s not available to me in the states.

Jehova’s Witnesses??? OMFG! Image that bear sticking her foot between your door

It was an ultrasound image I saw, so they must be okay with it.

I don’t think that’s the one where they analyse her. It’s more about what Little Hercules is like now.

The title of the show where they do a scientific investigation is My Shocking Story - The World’s Strongest Girl. It’s been on the discovery channel, apparently.

Thanks for the info - I’ve done that sort of thing before so it’ll be interesting to see how they did it and whether or not they exaggerated things.

Have a good one
