If you read through this thread, there’s minimal bashing. I made a simple objective statement:
“I did see a clip of him trying 1200 and he was way high-bottom of the hips about an inch above tops of knees. I don’t think he could have gotten down with that suit on that attempt.”
And some freaked out idiot who’s initials are BM thought that I was bashing equipment.
“he turend the lift down…and wtf i would love to put you in 10 super tight canvas suits then put 1200 pounds on your back and watch as you slowly die…its so easy to talk shit behind a key board…you ought to be asports journalist your ability to talk shit when you havent doen shit is quite impressive…rb”
Man when I read my clip in the objective tone that it was presented, you’r response seems to be a little bit of “picking a fight”
I wish I wouldn’t have started this thread. It seems like shit like this always happens to threads like this. Mike squatted 1200# suit or not, that is fucking incredible. If you have problems with gear lift raw or maybe you should become a fucking ballerina. Gear is here to stay and it is only gonna advance with time.
I’m pretty sure bigmartin was talking about WTF, not you.

Holding that much weight on your back is indeed impressive. But let’s call it what it is. That’s all I’m really saying.
I bet this fat-so couldn’t even squat himself off the toilet without his suit on.
Ironically, these guys wear their suits tighter than a ballerina.
And yes, the gear issue is why powerlifting will never be in the olympics. That and the liability of these “athletes” having a heart attack on stage.

My best non-equipped bench is 465…Squat 650 (belt only)…Deadlift 675 (belt only). My best non-equipped bench is 465…Squat 650 (belt only)…Deadlift 675 (belt only).

Which is still damn impressive, so why put on all the gear and turn it into a circus?

I really hope you are not referring to Big Martin when you said “this fat so”. The mans a beast, esp at his young age, and works harder and is more passionate about weightlifting then most people are about anything.
Also mertdawg, you’ll have to excuse him. He gets fired up when the debate over gear/non-gear comes up. He just hates how people put his hardwork and accomplishments to nothing (not saying that you did! just his interpretation). It’d be like me trivilizing your life’s work because you used an (accepted) form of help.

Yeah, in a super tight canvas suit that accounted for at least half of it and left him with bruised balls.

So, according to your theory, he would struggle to squat 600 raw. I doubt it.
Oh, you’re not impressed. Who cares? Do you think any powerlifter out there is doing to impress you, or anyone? They do what they do to move big weights. Some do it raw, some do it geared. Some use stronger gear than others. So what. That’s why there’s different federations that allow people to choose the what kind of gear you want to compete against. What’s so hard to understand about that?
Do you or have you ever participated in any sports? Guess what. All sports have some kind of gear or equipment. And some gear gives more favorable assisance than others.
If you played baseball, would you go to the plate with a 2x4 when everyone else is using aliminum bats? If you do, you’re an idiot. You want to be competitive in the sport you play, so you use the best equipment.
This shit really pisses me off. You don’t like gear? Fine. You don’t like powerlifting? That’s fine too. There’s no need to bring your nose in here and bash the sport that many people love.

I don’t know Marty, so no, I wasn’t talking about him.
And yes, I would be surprized if Mike Miller could squat 600 raw. Or “big Martin” for that matter.
WTF you have gone over the line. Before I used gear I didn’t understand it but I never bashed it. Now that I have used gear for some time I know that it takes a great amount of control and skill to master a squat suit of that strength. You can’t just fuckin slip on some canvas and immediately get 200 some pounds out of it. You are a fucking moron plain and simple. How about you get a suit try it out and we can all stand around and watch while you fly face first into the ground. Aaah, I’d take pleasure in seeing that. And don’t talk shit about Mike Miller, in my opinion he is one of the best powerlifters in the world and has awesome mountain man strength and awesome body control when he squats. I wish people wouldn’t be such big, loose, floppy pussies and sit behind a keyboard and talk shit all day but don’t understand the first thing they are talking about. Ok, Ifeel better now.

are you insane…you have no idea what your talking about…no idea at all…600 pounds…mike miller cant squat 600 pounds raw ???..honesty u think a man gets 600 pounds from a canvas suit…have u ever used a canvas suit??..if this i true why dont you put one on and squat a grand???..at 220 you would be the equivelant of chuck vogepole???..man your awesome…can you coem show me how to get 600 pounds from a suit???..listen man you have no clue your on a internet parade her talking about soemthing you have never done…rb
Again, Parrish said he himself gets about 200 (700 raw, 900 equiped) so Mike’s gotta be able to get 850+ raw given 1100, and probably 900-950. He also said Mike usually went up to 550-600 or so raw in bench, but I don’t know if he still does the max raw day. I heard he got 865 equiped which is right in line with 250-300 in the squat and bench max with full gear, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t using more muscle to do it. It’s not just the technique, but also the stong back and apparently nuts needed.
this is my last post but bet you 50 grandwtf you wouldnt call mike miller a fat-so to his face…and i gurnatee in real life off the internet you wouldnt come to my gym and say shit about powerlifting gear or powerlifters to our faces…u are a inernet warrior…your key board and monitor allows you to say whatever you want with out punishment…its that simple…
I’m not doubting these guys are strong as hell, or saying I could ever come close to performing their feats. Just that the gear is use has gotten out of hand.
If basketball players started wearing jet packs, I’d question that too.
Miller has trained hard to hold that much weight on his back, and it’s an outstanding accomplishment. But, never trains out of gear (from what I’ve read), so I still doubt he’d be able to do a true 6oo lb squat
