Incredible day back, made sure everything was slightly under my current baseline of strength so I’m getting back into the groove of things. Lots of volume to grease the groove for training, still got me pumped as shit and sore as hell today. I have a good feeling about my next few competitions.

Coach wanted me to drop some volume and cut out some exercises getting back into things. Loving how quick I feel like I’m getting back to normal. 3 more weeks of this and I’ll be allowed to throw more weight on the deadlift and I’m stoked.

    Trend with deadlifts is continuing, last set at 265 was faster than my first set of 255 last week… Next few weeks I’m gonna make 3 plates move like an empty bar for speed reps. Technique is getting really dialed in too with these speed sets. This will be the year 500 goes up.

The only aspect of training now that feels off is my ability to manipulate my emotional state. Usually I can flip the switch in an instant but now it takes a few flicks of the switch before I get to where I want to be. 500 will get lifted from the floor this year, 300 will go overhead this year, and I want 300 a hand farmer this year for 50ft. Let’s get it boys.

Great work in here! Do you find that getting some blood flowing with the leg curls helps with your deads?

It’s mainly as a means to pre-fatigue my deadlifts seeing as I take the sets to failure. It makes lighter weights harder to accelerate so once I get done with this block of pre-fatigued deadlifts it’ll have a greater effect when my hamstrings aren’t fried beforehand.

There is a lot of research that shows a light hamstrings pump before squats and such make it easier on the knees and help prime.

1/25/19- Quick Bro Pump

  • Pull-ups- 2xMax Reps on 4 different grips
    It went wide grip, Close-grip, Neutral Grip then underhand.
    I think it went something like 7 on wide’s, 5 on close-grip, 5 on Neutral, 3 on underhand + some partials. Next set was about cut in half
    Also it was a superset with band seesaw rows for 30sec.

Welp, time to move gyms. While I’ve simply fallen in love with the no A/C hardcore dirty ass gym that I’ve been at, they’ve sold almost all their strongman kit. The deal breaker was the selling of the 12" log I’d been using, the big yellow bastard is gone now. It feels like I’m going through a breakup as dramatic as that sounds, there was a whole family at that gym that I loved so I’m a bit torn:/

Feel indestructible rn, every task that coach throws at me I smash no matter how ridiculous it looks. I went from a my 50ft top set zercher carry last week to using it for 3x100ft… set a 2 rep PR on deadlfits after all was said and done to.
